Hot, hot, HOT!
What parts are you going to be running on it again? Alloy with a carbon rear end, or scandium or something?
What chainring sizes are you going to run?
Did you score TWO sets of the wheels, so you have options for different races? I need to come up on a set of tubular CX tires at some point soon, I have the wheels set aside. I really want to build up a new cross bike for this fall, the S-Works doesn't really fit perfectly. Steel maybe?
How often is your race series?

God, I LOVE new bike porn! These are my favorite posts on RM...we should have a sticky set aside for CX bikes, we have one for the roadies. DirtyDog, whatta ya think?

I'll be running a mix of 105 and Ultegra, the frame is 7005 aluminum front end to carbon rear end, I'm going to run 36/46 setup, I have two sets of Zipps and two sets of lower end wheels (they're clincher though). I agonized over the chainring decision this year, I really debated going 38 or 39 for the middle but I elected to stay with a 36 since I ride the big ring 90% of the time.

As for your wheels, I used clincher wheels the last two years without problem...the key was the Tufo tubular clincher. The tire hooks up well and its hard to flat. For a new bike, I think its personal preference....we have a huge series up here and you see everything from Vanilla cross bikes to full carbon Argon bikes.

I'll be competing in two series this year, the Psycho Series and the Cross Crusade Series. The Psycho series is smaller, and it pays....I'll have a good shot at winning that series. The Crusade is a different beast, the races are huge (around 1000 competitors per race) so I'm gunning for a top 20 finish in the series. It'll be hectic, starting in mid September I'll race every weekend, many times twice, till early December.

Sounds pretty much perfect, the good stuff where it belongs: the wheels. There is one race around here in the fall. One. As in 1.
For clincher I have the Vred tires to run, and I guess I have access to Vredestein-branded tubulars too, likely made by Dugast, so I'm going to go that way I think. I have a kind of glut of carbon wheels at the moment, so i can devote one or two sets to CX duty.
I have a 38/46 setup on mine I think, either that or 36/46.

When are we going to see pics of your bike complete?

End of next week, I had to order a few odds and ends. I'm really looking forward to riding the bike. This bike should be loads lighter than my previous setup (older Scott w/heavier wheels). That sucks that you only have one cross race in your area....the possibilities up here are endless. The crummy thing is that I live in the one big city in Oregon that doesn't have a weekly series :(

This thing done yet?
Keeping us waiting, sheesh!
Damn order was messed up....still waiting on the new middle ring, but I have filler.

Good shot of the carbon rear ending meeting the alum. front

Drivetrain is a mix of Ultegra/105 with FSA SLK cranks w/Rotor BB

The most important part of any cross bike, the tires

<edit> The bike slides in just under 20lbs, so I'll tell everyone I'm less than 20 :) I'm going to cut the steer tube after I figure out my position. I rode it around the block and I think I may go lower for a more aggressive position

Nice. I miss it already, but it did fund me getting a Powertap up and going. I have to build my wheel and the numbers game can begin.

Looks good. Thanks again for being such a pleasure to deal with.

Thank you for selling it to me, you helped me out in a pinch. There is a "crit" this weekend that I may race the bike in.....the race is basically a cross race without barriers. The first real cross race is mid September.....I'm praying for rain :)

Cool bike. I love the way it looks. I have had my eye on one for a while. Is that a large or medium. I have never seen one in person only on line so i trying to get an idea how a large looks. How does it handle with a 74 degree head tube angle? thanks and good luck with your season.

Sorry I hadn't responded to your PM, so I'll do it here where others can see what I say as well.

I always thought it was super stable. I didn't ride it off road a ton, so I can't speak super in depth, but when I did it handled really well. I had it weighing just under 21 lbs with a rival group and open pro/ultegras.

I liked it on the road too. It was pretty stiff under pedal, but super compliant vertically.

I'd get another one.

If you remember, PM me in October and I'll be able to give an in depth review of the off road handling....I should have a bunch of CX races under my belt by then. I was a little put off by the steep head tube angle, but cruising around the neighborhood the bike handles great. I'm going to take it out on some gravel/pavement today

I took the bike out today and did a mostly gravel/pavement ride, but I did ride a little bit of single track; I was very impressed with the ride of the bike. There was a noticeable difference on the gravel road downhills between this bike and my alum. Scott....it was much more compliant and didn't beat the hell out of me. The bike is very responsive as well and when I jumped, it went. I'm very happy and I look forward to the first cross race.
