So my faithful xt rear derailleur has finally bought it. The time has come for me to get a new one. My interests are primarily dirt jumping dual slalom urban types of things. I am running a 22-36-bashring crank setup with a ninespeed cassette in the rear. Alot of people have been telling me that i should get a triple ring road derailleur. So i just want to make sure before i purchase it that it will work. Will the ultegra 6500 gs tripple work on my nine speed cassette?

Thanks

bump. I'm not sure if it will work. Most people who run Ultegras seem to be running a single ring up front.

Shimano lists the maximum number of teeth a derailleur can handle on their site. I would dbl check there. You might also look into a short cage mtn derailleur as an alternate.
