A friend want's to upgrade from 10.3 to 10.4 with the upgrade disc, will her applications (photoshop being the main one) be ok or will she need to find the original boxes with the serial numbers again?

heh she brought an external hard drive to back everything up to but it won't let her, she says it said because she is not running 10.4??????

how did she try to mount it?

i've never had a problem upgrading a mac using the upgrade disc, but she's probably better off calling the apple store to make sure because i've never used photoshop so i can't say for sure if the serial will remain.

but, i wouldn't imagine the upgrade disk doing anything to the hard drive other than upgrading certain osx components and installing some new features.

I used CS2 on my 10.3 system and then upgraded in place to 10.4 w/o any hiccups. However, if she has any other specialized software, I recommend she visit their website for any updates.

Yes, Photoshop will be just fine.

Did she initialize the external hard drive?
