I am a beginner and only have leg and shin guards, elbow and forearm and a ff helmet 4 padding. I have protos paintball pants that are somewhat padded and a jersey would the paintball pants work as well as Freeride shorts.

As far as functionality, take a spin around the driveway and see if they are comfy. If so you'll be fine wearing them. However, it sounds like you're good to go with the leg, arm and full face. I wouldn't worry about the shorts too much.

I don't thing it is a good idea to ride with pants on summer it is very hot just wear any kind of shorts and the protection you have it is ok just take it easy at the beginning until you feel comfortable with the trails. You can rent a chest protector is 10 dollars.

to test my padding i have sex with my full body armor, shin guards, helmet gloves goggles etc....

OR THE PAINTBALL PANTS WILL BE FINE ,BECAYSE FALLING DOWN A ROCK GARDEN IS SIMILAR TO BEING SHOT WITH A PAINTBALL.HA HA
