vouilloz was 5th in qualifying in champery, and rode in the rain like everyone else.hope he does better than vouilloz did on his comeback. Thought Palmer was actually sponsored by SantaCruz? was that just for a couple of races and pre-season?

Not really. Nico finished in the 60's at Champery. Qualifying doesn't count.i stand corrected, memory has let me down once again.
Yeah.....Nico sucks. Not really. Nico finished in the 60's at Champery. Qualifying doesn't count.
minnaar finished in 74thNot really. Nico finished in the 60's at Champery. Qualifying doesn't count.
I am in no way saying that man! Nico is a legendary racer. I was simply setting the facts straight.Yeah.....Nico sucks.
Only as good as your last race.
Sorry for grumping at you....my bad.I am in no way saying that man! Nico is a legendary racer. I was simply setting the facts straight.
Really uncool to put words in other peoples mouths.
Yeah, Palm even says in the video he's not training to beat sam hill, he just wants to have some fun, also mentioned how he's old and slow.. Didn't he try to qualify for the jeep 48 straight last year, but came up short?I think most ppl get their hopes to high as with Nico's comeback. He won't be training to get into top wc guys form and killing himself but probably just going for a few races for some fun and publicity. Nico did the same. Never stated that his goal was to smash everybody. Also judging a rider by one race is pretty unfair. I'm still stoked for Palmer as he still is one of my childhood heroes and hope he does well.
here's what it says right before the video on litter...no need to guess, "...Shaun Palmer tested a Santa Cruz V10 and Evil Revolt to see what suits him best for his return to mountain bike racing at the 2009 U.S. Mountain Bike National Championships in a couple weeks."But my guess is he's not on contract, so maybe he's testing out a few bikes to see which ones he likes best. I would imagine he'll be entering the races as a privateer, so he can choose the bike he wants, correct?
d'uh.... reading is good! At least my deduction skillz are better than my reading skillzhere's what it says right before the video on litter...no need to guess, "...Shaun Palmer tested a Santa Cruz V10 and Evil Revolt to see what suits him best for his return to mountain bike racing at the 2009 U.S. Mountain Bike National Championships in a couple weeks."
Yeah, SC is a bit hurting on the $ side right now. Doubt they could offer Palmer much.here's what it says right before the video on litter...no need to guess, "...Shaun Palmer tested a Santa Cruz V10 and Evil Revolt to see what suits him best for his return to mountain bike racing at the 2009 U.S. Mountain Bike National Championships in a couple weeks."
in qualifying there was even conditions for everyone, not so in the race. Not really. Nico finished in the 60's at Champery. Qualifying doesn't count.
Wow he can ride through whoops fast. AMAZING.Yeah, I'd agree he looks slow. I mean, look how slow he's going through that whoop section
YepWow he can ride through whoops fast. AMAZING.
Am I the only one that isn't excited to see a 40 year old ex pro try and rail it down the course at nationals?
There are many others that will be at that race that be more exciting to watch.
Fraid so, ya miserable bastardAm I the only one that isn't excited to see a 40 year old ex pro try and rail it down the course at nationals?
Not miserable it's just that he WAS a great rider. Sure he is still going to have some skill but I would much rather see a younger, more deserving pro class rider on the podium at nationals rather than someone who has already had a successful career in the world cup.Fraid so, ya miserable bastard
nope you aren'tAm I the only one that isn't excited to see a 40 year old ex pro try and rail it down the course at nationals?
RUFUS - I gotta disagree with you here. Not miserable it's just that he WAS a great rider. Just give it up and go enjoy riding your bike, you have nothing else to prove.
At the same time, If he has no intention of competing for an entire season or series, then I would rather see some new talent working through the ranks.RUFUS - I gotta disagree with you here.
If a rider has the skill to make it to the podium, then he or she deserves to be there. Whether or not he was on the podium before - be it last year or 10 years ago - a rider's skills earn them the right.
One only gets on the course, if one earns it. I thinks its great to have someone who generates so much attention and inspires other people. That is all good for everyone involved. At the same time, If he has no intention of competing for an entire season or series, then I would rather see some new talent working through the ranks.
Palm and Nico racing seems like more of a media stunt to me. I doubt either one of them truly believe they are still fast enough(read: fit enough) to compete with the current top riders.
I agree that anyone fast enough has the right to race, but I would rather see him helping young talent get faster and compete for years to come instead of taking up a spot on the coarse.
I agree. If he still truly has the passion for DH and he wants the sport to progress, especially for the US, then get into a quality coaching role and help these young, talented riders make it to the top.At the same time, If he has no intention of competing for an entire season or series, then I would rather see some new talent working through the ranks.
