My Blur in battle mode - Rhinolites/Michelin DH tires. Have a set of XT/317's for XC. Love it!!
Also have a DeKerf Team ST that's "my son's bike," which I ride when I want to go old-school. Steel is definitely real.

Hey! I resemble that...

Although I think 27lbs for a 5" FS bike isisn't all that bad...
(And if I spend some $$$ I could loose another 2 lbs)

Yeah, and I'm running a coil fork and other heavier bits. :D

Nice bike ET_SoCal. I considered a Switchblade. I know a guy who races his XC for Titus. I can't loose weight in a good way, I'd break stuff, more stuff.

Hey Ghost. I'm getting there, although I haven't been able to ride for a few weeks due to spraigning BOTH wrists (from crashing my Blur, of course). The riding here sure isn't very technical though.

Hey...what sort of tires do you recommend for around here in the loose/sandy conditions. These Karmas, while light, just aren't cutting it. I was thinking of getting some conti Verticals or Explorers.

I'd go with the Explorers if you can afford them. The Vertical would be too tight of a fit in your Blur frame. I used the Explorers for quite some time and really liked the traction for around here. I'm running IRC Mythos tires right now (they were cheap) and I don't like them as much. Where have you been riding? I'll let you know when I'm doing a ride up that way and maybe we can hook up. There is some great stuff in Santa Barbara but you gotta be in shape to ride it.

Dude, You need an AC!

I'll post pics of mine soon.
No thanx on the AC i bought the VT so i could have a lighter but aggressive trail runner. The Zokes Bomber is an air and i've lightened up where i can so i can take the edge off of rides where i climb 3000 plus feet of elevation in a 25 plus mile ride. I got me a Bullit for the shorter aggressive trails.

An update to anyone who want's to know the deal with my VT:I burned up the bearings on my VT, Giant kicked down some bearings. I do ride the hell out of that bike but i feel the bearing wore a little prematurely. I'm curious to see how long this next set last. I like this bike i'm hoping i can keep it happy and healthy for another season at least.:)

Very nice. I had my 21.5" @ 22.6lbs, I'm just about to swap all the parts over to a newer frame, and sell off the MCM.
Hate to do it, I love that bike, and it only has like 10 rides on it, but I gotta make room somehow, right? :(
C'est la vie.
Progress.
But I still loved that bike...

Thanks guys. Right now it's at 20.7 lbs and I don't have any plans to make it lighter.

James, Can you get me some derailluer hangers for th MCM?

Also, I just read about the layoffs at Giant on bicycle retailer. Scary.

Sorry, we don't have any up here at the office, so can't snag any. You'll be able to order some through your local Giant shop, part #27020.

Cheers,

James

what do you think of giant's move this year on ditching the sid shock, and replacing it with the fox ava on the nrs series???

Well, talking with the Rep, it is supposed to have made it better. The adjustments on the AVA allow more tuning than just air pressure. I think it is a waste. You have to defalte the shock, adjust the collar to the air chamber size you think you want and pump it back up. Maybe if it was on the fly adjustment, it would be worth it. Giant's affiliation with Manitou should suggest they use a Swinger Air?!?

yeah I thought it would have been a much better choice for the NRS go for a Fox Float RL or Manitou SPV

Here's my 03 Isis. Since this pic was taken, I've replaced the Deore/Rhinolite wheelset with a set of WTB LaserDisc Lite/Velocity VXC's. knocked off over 2.5 lbs of rotational weight.

Big Fat Otto seems to like it
