I have a 2012 Wilson with an MRP G2 on it, it works fine but seems pretty noisy to me. What guides work quitely and functionaly with the Wilson?
Thanks

I would assume almost anything would work. Which gears is it noisy in? All of them? Chainline adjusted correctly? My e13 makes a little noise when I am in 8/9th gears because it throws the chainline off so much. I took a few of the plastic pieces off my guide and sanded them down to get a little more clearance. Still rubs a tad, but that's better than taking too much material off. There are numerous tricks you can do to make it quieter without having to replace it. Black velcro, the soft side, can be cut into small pieces and applied to various spots on the guide to reduce noise.
It makes the most noise in first thru third. Its set up right. I think the plastic is just too hard. I've had other guides on different bikes and they make same noise but this one just seems to rattle more.
I ran the Silentguide half the season until I exploded it (and my crank) on a rock. Then I put up a LG1+ and wow that was noisy. Going back with a Silentguide no doubt.
I ran the Straitline Silent Guide last year. Loved it.
Previously used E13 and MRP guides.
To me Straitline Silent Guide the quietest, with zero thrown chains/etc. Can't get that 'cool' open chainring/taco chainguide look - but I am ok with that.
Silent Guide for me this year again on new bike.
Yes they do. You just need to order the ones 'specifically' made for Saint cranks. Not sure the difference, as I did not run Saints, but there is two Specific versions (Saint and Regular).
^ Yah what he said. They have a Saint specific model for the bashguard. I dunno if the same applies for the newest Saint cranks. I reckon itll still follow. Geddit.
There is no more Saint specific version as far as I know, they are shipping the "Saint" bashring with all the guides nowadays, since it works fine with normal thickness chainring spiders as well.
I have the "Saint" bashring with the recessed backside on my old LX cranks, and it works fine.
Personally I would save the $100+ and put some velcro pieces in there to quiet that thing. It wouldn't be a stretch to make it quieter than the straitline with a few well pieced strips of 'cro.
Is the G3 "G-slide" compatible with the G2? Pretty neat that you have the option to run a pulley or a slider.
I guess I don't pedal my DH bike all that much. I've had my LG1 coming up on 3-4 years now. Had the pulley bearing seize up once, but that was a simple clean and re grease. The taco is deformed and covered in battle scars, but works and looks like new. If I ran a bash ring I'd want to replace it more often due to the visible wear and tear. Not a concern with a taco.

I have an e13 SRS+, wish I could set up some kind of taco bash guard and get rid of the bash ring. I got a fancy-pants Renthal chainring and you can't see it -_-
I`m actually planning on buying the new DER guide- if I find a shop where it`s available. Would be interesting if anybody can compare these two guides.

I have used both and would recommend the Blackspire guide over the Straitline... better lower guide design IMO. It is quieter, smoother and supposedly won't wear out like the Straitline lower guide.

Smoother? There is less drag on the silent guide than on any other guide I have tried and the wear on the straitline is only initial. I'm yet to meet a blackspire product that matches anything from straitline in quality. It's a nice design but wait a bit for wear.
