I kinda like it.
So, as I have mentioned, this is the first new Altitude since 2013 that I am sitting out. Partially because I can’t really ride this year, but also because my ‘21‘s are still perfectly excellent, and capable beyond what I can do with them.
Lots of improvements, for sure. Maybe in ‘25, but not this year.

I still love my ‘21 Altitude, although I could be tempted by one of the alloy frames. Maybe run the ‘21 as a lighter/steeper trail bike in the shorter travel settings then the new one as an enduro sled…
So, yeah, I have two identical Altitude frames, ones is 150/160 (air), and one is 170/170 (coil air). I think this fits my needs just fine right now. But the improvement list is pretty excellent, they have definitely been listening.

Why anyone would want a plethora of batteries all over their bikes they need to continually remove to charge or replace versus ONE charging port and internally wired components? honestly baffles me.

Because I usually keep components a lot longer than frames, and it wouldn’t surprise me at all if 27’ and on frames don’t even have cable routing, besides maybe the rear brake line.
Also, the newer Shimano 12 shifts so, so much better for me than the older 11, period. That’s why.
I also move components around between 2 or three bikes, and to say that will be easier is an understatement.
In other words, I have my valid reasons.

I also keep components a long time. Eg. I don't own a single 12spd component as I think it all represents poor VFM and increased weight with poorer performance.
I don't see that being very likely BUT... Even if it were to happen.. internal electrical cabling is nothing a drill couldnt achieve
Sounds like an affirmation that wires would be even MORE of a PITA, that would definitely void any warranty.

Expect it by autumn. They will kill SLX and keep two levels of XTR and XT (pure XC and enduro/trail) and also a wireless/wired Deore. And even a shifterless, batteryless Essa, only configurable via ANT+ and phone app.
