You can't take a comparable truck (brand new half ton truck) and turn it into a raptor for less than the cost of a raptor while keeping a factory warranty intact. So yes, in theory if you want to compare apples to apples then yes, it is a good deal.I'm not planning to do anything. Just curious. So your conclusion is that the Raptor is a decent deal for what it offers (factory support, warranty in theory, 4WD, big itself/big V8), I guess.
If you have the ability to fabricate and the know how to design a good suspension system you can make a more capable truck for less money/a vehicle that will outperform it and is more purpose built. However you will be making sacrifices in on road handling, reliability, creature comforts, space, etc.
