I am looking for a new record player. I have been listening to an old player my dad had from college, it bit the dust tonight. I want to find something nice for under $200
The motor is shot .... I listen to a lot of vinyl so I figured that a new player wouldn't be a bad investment.Bit the dust? It probably just needs a new belt or needle.
True. If you are going to be shaking your bones you need all stability you can get. I recommend setting them up on cinder blocks. Not necessarily. While other tables offer better accoutrements like automatic arms or multi-record setups, the 1200 is so good because it's super heavy base insulates sound and prevents skipping. I've seen several non-DJs using 1200s because the sound is simply better. I'm sure they don't approach true audiophile mind-blowers, but they're among the best even just for listening..
+1 for pro-ject.200 is pushing it...check the project tables.
I dont need anything SUPER fancy, but I would like something nicer 1960s high tech.
