So i went to about 5 bike shops in the last 2 days looking for very basic parts to give my bro for last min xmas gifts.
Deep cup headsets, mech disk brakes, short stems, riser bars, 20mm t/a front wheels - your normal, non exotic freeride parts. They had literally nothing, and these guys in the stores kept looking at my like i was out of my mind. It was like I had just walked into a hardware store and asked for a thrust capacitor or something.
This one guy at citybikes kept pulling out 2 bolt XC stems (all 100mm+) and asking "You sure this isn't short enough?" YES I'M SURE! Have you ever even SEEN a downhill bike? This experience only reinforces my committment to buy my own tools and never set foot in these places again.
I don't expect a lot of variety from these sorts of small retail establishments, but come on.
