reheated and mixed together with peas and brown rice makes for one frightening looking lunch. Who knew the slime would spread to the contents of the entire bowl?

I had it deep fried once, and I had a cold at the time, but it tasted ok to me.

It doesn't get slimey when you deep fry it, only when you boil it. Then it takes on a gross non-food like quallity reminiscent of a movie prop for some sci-fi flick.

That is the secret of a good gumbo.....

speaking of which my chicken and sausage gumbo is rocking.

pickled okra is good too.

but fried crisp is the only way to go.
and not that store bought pre-breaded crap.
ya gotta make it yourself.

Thats the plan for the rest of it (frying). I used to love boiled okra, but this time around, it seems as though things have changed.

Home Fried Okra is such a wonderful food that if you throw into the air, it will turn into sunshine.

Breaded fried okra is teh suck that you always see at weak buffets.

Never eaten boiled okra, too slimy to hold.

slimey okra reminds me of what some of our trails are like in early spring and late fall.

i honestly get sick to my stomach even when i hear people talk about okra. every time we'd visit my aunts house in Louisiana she'd make sea food gumbo with okra. total bastardization of a perfect food. I also NEVER ate when I went there I’d have something to snack on in my backpack and would eat when I went to bed. But hey it’s great to know somebody likes it :peeeeeU:

You do know that 'gumbo' and 'okra' are both african words for the okra plant and pods. Gumbo means okra. To have it without would be blasphemy.

My missus makes it. I don't mind it but the slimy texture is a bit off-putting. The Japanese like slimy food. (insert gag smilie here)

My ex used to make a tofu/snap pea/okra/****ake mushroom stir fry with spicy brown sauce. Man she could cook. Only thing I miss about her.
