10 speed setup
Full length housing
Weird FSA shifters: https://www.amazon.com/Vision-Metron-Speed-Alloy-Shifter/product-reviews/B005VZW19C
Ultegra 6800 rear derailleur
SRAM PG-1070 11-23 cassette
XTR 7900 Front
36-52 rings
KMC X10 Chain
Problem:
I seem to be able to get great shifting at the top or at the bottom of the cassette. If I tune to have good shifting in the small cogs, when I shift to the top, I need to start adding additional lever pull after the click in order to move the chain to the next cog. If i tune to upshift well, I lose the ability to get into the smaller gears due to cable tension. So, my shifting remains sloppy and requires additional manipulation to get across the cassette. Shifting also seems to be chainring sensitive, with better or worse shifting depending on what ring you are in.
I just replaced the housing which seems to have helped but not resolved the issue. Downshifting into low cogs is quick and snappy when tuned "correctly" likely indicating it's not the cable. Cage appears straight, hanger was new and appears straight. Shifters and derailleur SHOULD be compatible (ie not a cable pull issue).
I'm a little stumped here. Happy to provide photos if it will help.
