WHUUUTTTT??? Does this mean we may see lift access in the future or was it a one time thing?
One time thing... they do not let DH bikes on the lifts.

Here are the "regs" listed on the Summit site:
  • 1. Bikes must be less than 35 pounds.
  • 2. Designated tire size must be less than 2.5.
  • 3. Front shock must have less than 6.5 inches of travel.
  • 4. Bikes must have at least two chain rings unless they are single speed.

That is by far the stupidest set of regulations I have ever seen. My nomad wouldn't even make the cut :(

**** my 4" travel morewood wouldn't even make the cut. they really won't allow a 1x9 setup?
I'm sure that they would allow a 1x9 setup as long as you don't have a triple-crown, massive tires etc. If you bike LOOKS xc/trail then they will load it. If it looks DH, they probably will not. It isn't like they have a ruler and a scale, checking every single bike that comes throuhg.

Nothing worth riding in big bear anyways. I'd stay away if I were any of you. You can tell from all those flat, smooth, boring trails in those pics.

EDIT: First of all nice riding shots, looks like a blast.

What's the logic in that? I really don't get it.. wouldn't having all those things defeat the purpose of taking a lift to the top?

Big Bear does not have a bike park, they allow bikes to take the "Scenic Chair" to the top that access trails off the Snow Summit property. Summit 'quit' loading big bikes after shutting down their park in 2004 and came up with those requirements to dissuade people from riding. FYI, i ride my Pitch up there and it is pretty awesome.
