Sunlight to Host First Ever “Spokes on Snow” Mountain Bike Race


Glenwood Springs, Colo. – Sunlight Mountain Resort and Arrow Racing will host their first annual “Spokes on Snow” Mountain Bike Race on Saturday, March 24—“The Ultimate Sunlight Dual that Defies the Seasons!”


As part of the Aspen Valley Harley Davidson Spring Thing festivities, brought to you by Moe’s Southwest Grill, Arrow Racing, the Post Independent and KSNO, “Spokes on Snow” will kick off a fun-filled weekend with a dual-slalom mountain bike race down Dotsero with jumps, berms and rollers. With amateur, pro, women’s and under 18 classes, it’s time to dust off the studded snow tires and get those mountain bikes ready for mud season. The race will be held on Sunlight’s Dotsero run at 10am. Registration is on Friday, March 23 from 1-3pm in Sunlight’s Guest Services department and on Saturday, March 24 from 7:30-9:30am in Sunlight’s lodge. Practice will be held on Friday from 3-5pm (weather permitting) and Saturday from 8-9:30am. Registration is $20 for pro competitors and $15 for all others. A cash purse comprised of $5 from each registration fee will be given to the race winner.


In addition, competitors and spectators can enjoy free live music from Soulfeel at 1pm and Jamaican Eclipse at 4pm. There will be other festivities galore including a tropical costume contest and prize giveaways from Pentax, artEpaca, Aspen Valley Harley Davidson, Girl Powder, Arrow Racing and MORE! The Ranch
We snapped some pics of the course this morning while we were testing the jumps. Everything is holding up great and the snow is nice and solid. Bring your warm weather gear and studded tires. I have been out in just a t-shirt and jeans while riding and working.
