not as useless as one of the other threads out there

I tried teflon before and it doesn't last long and gets chewed up fast. Then you have to get all that chewed up material out. Ti prep (anti-seize) is what works best for me. A little goes a long way and stays there for ever.

I used grease with teflon ground up in it, it works good. tape is messy and hard to clean w/o facing.

I use teflon tape all the time to keep bottom brackets tight while not seizing up.

Some bike manufactures have been using red Loctite on the bottom bracket threads to keep chain guide from spinning. That is very stupid since it makes it almost immposible to get the bottom bracket out. This was the case on a bike I worked on a few months ago. I ended up destroying the bottom bracket cups to get it out. Blue loctite is almost as bad.

A couple of wraps of teflon tape work great. Otherwise, grease and tighten with a torque wrench often.
