Thought i would share a pic of the new ride.

07 Mongoose Bosberg
Rival Shifters, dérailleurs, brakes-Till Red comes out
Force compact Cranks
EC90 post with THE LUX seat
Pro Carbon Stem with Deda Newton Bars
Got some cheap 105/Open Pro training wheels in the pic
Shimano Ultegra peds

Nice riding really comfy on long rides, much more so than my Al Soloist was.

I can't see it. Can you please enlarge the photo?

Nice back. Got detail of the bb area? The front end looks stiff as all get out.

Looks sweet, don't see too many Mongoose road bikes these days.
Or PRO parts.
Nice. I back the SRAM the stuff too, very nice. What are your other wheels?

I'll shoot some more close ups this evening, and post them. It's a really nice riding bike, very lateraly stiff, but rides really nice over the rough stuff. Top tube has a really intersting shape profile to it.

The nicer wheels are zipp 404s and 303s when I'm in go fast mode.

Is it comfortable riding in that position with the saddle so much higher than the bars?
Yeah, but on most people it wouldn't be. I have really short legs and a long torso with really long arms, so I'm not bent over that far.

I should think you'd want a similar effective seattube, but a much longer toptube and longer headtube?

Yeah i've gone that route. I actually have a custom steel frame hanging in the garage i use to race. It's a 52cm seat tube at 75 degree with a 58 TT. That tells you how long my torso is. I'm 6'.

The frame i have is a medium. I originally planned to get a Large, but when i got to try it out it didn't feel right, kinda like my weight was all shfited wrong, not sure why. Also the standover as gone, i was actually on the top tube having to boost myself up a bit.

It works pretty well actually. It's pretty comfy and it actually puts me in a better position to climb, not as good on the flats though as the custom.

Dude I am loving it. What does one of those puppies go for? Might have to look for a Mongoose dealer locally. Also do you know how much it weighs? Doesn't look very aerodynamic, but I'm sure it is cheaper than the other 2 bikes I'm looking at that I shouldn't spend that much on.

Probably not the most aero thing in the world, but the aero frame thing is blow so outta proportion anyways. Performance has them, i don't know if a local dealer can even get them. It was suppose to be an international only bike, but the bought a bunch to bring into the US. I think retail is like 2600, last time i saw they where like $1900.

Thanks for the detail.

Agreed, the headtube area looks great. Does it remind anyone else of the old Trek carbon hardtail? 9.9 I think it was called.

Yeah kinda, it's alittle more angular than trek has done in the past. The tubes have some odd shaping to them in somplaces.

The Schwinn Carbon frames look alot like older OCLV frames in the front. Which kinda looked like the older Kestrels.

I called Performance in Columbus, Oh. They have a medium in stock. Tomorrow I am gonna go down and ride it, a Madone, and a Soloist Carbon again. Sawmill Rd. has every bike manufacture you could imagine. A Trek Store, Performance, and Bike Source, all withing 5 miles of each other. I hope it weighs 16 or less, if so and it rides as good as you say I am soooo down.

Sounds like a good deal. I doubt the stock bick is under 16, the Kore wheels are pretty tankish. I would say it's possible to get it there. I haven't weighed mine so i don't know. But with the wheel change(which aren't much lighter), the force cranks, the stem/bar, and seatpost/seat changes from a stock bike you can feel the weight difference.

With the price difference you could buy the bike, and put all chi-chi parts on it, get it realy light, and save a bunch of money over the soloist.

Either way, go for the one that rides the best for sure.

Yeah I can pick up an ultegra Soloist Carbon for 4k, and Goose 2K, Madone slightly over 4K. I am a mod junkie, everything I can mod, is modded. Other than the minor mods on my current POS roadie. So I am thinking I can pick the Goose up for half the money and blow the rest on mods. I already plan to remove all the Ultegra crap from the Soloist if I buy it, and then swap Force on. The wheels could be better too. I just need to ride this $2000 wonder goose and see what it is all about. Being a Mongoose Black Diamond, and Wing owner, I like their products? The question is can it hang with a bike that's frame set cost more than the complete bike?

I also have seen 15.8, since I found the 15.4 weight.
Still not to bad.

I think it can hang. For me a frame is all about comfort and stiffness, and it's got both for me. It's alittle more relaxed of a position than the soloist is. It's got less lateral flex than the soloist did and it's smoother of the rough stuff, so i was sold.

Also i ride for goose on the fat tire side, i had the option to ride the frame, or get something else. I chose to go with it.

You had the Aluminum Soloist right? I might ride one of those tomorrow too. I am getting dropped off of the motorway on the ramp, and ridding 10.2 miles to store #1, the Trek Store, then Performance is around the corner, and then 3.2 miles down south to Bike Source. Man I got a big day of test ridding ****. I might ride a Specialized Tarmac, A Cervelo R3, and a Giant TCR Advanced. Depends how much time I have. I get to ride the Goose second after ridding the Madone. I might even ride the Madone to the Goose store, not sure if they will let me go that long, it is just around the corner.

It is funny you say the goose wheels are tanks. That must be one hell of a light frame then. The Madone 5.5 weighs 15.5 sans pedals.

Cool, yeah i had the Al version, if you know anyone that wants a 54 with DA parts let me know......lol. I've got some time on the carbon version, it's much smoother.

I think the Kore wheels are 1950g for the set.
