Here are the rest of my new house image. The home is 860 square feet - 40m less than the garage. Built in 1924 and rehabbed in 1999. It has a small cellar and hot water baseboard heat. Its empty right now because my stuff will not arrive until Monday September 8th.

If you want to know what each view is there are captions in the photo album marked Garage.

If the pictures do not load - give me a minute to fix them :)

How close are the nearest trails .

Looks real Nice !
There are trails behind the college about 4 miles away - a few others are 15 to 20 minutes outside of town.

I will miss the wealth of trails that Washington had to offer.

I bought a book on Montana mtb trails - there a some nice ones that require plenty of travel.

Winter sports are where its at in Butte, I may take up XC skiing again. :)

Is that walking distance to Uptown?
The house is on the flats about 3 miles from uptown, I like the idea of living in uptown but the houses where HUGE and not insulated. You could get 3000 square feet for under $200,000.00 but you'd have to pay upwards of $500.00 a month for heat 9 months out of year.

Approved!

Nice digs. Can I ask what you paid?
I offered $125,000.00 and requested some minor repairs such as rain gutters and upgraded concrete footings - the owners opted to rebate me $2000.00 instead so... $123,000.00 on an asking price of $127,500.00.

Houses seem pretty cheap to me here, this house south of Seattle would easily be in the $250,000.00 range.

Im seriously going to look for jobs in that region.
Western Montana / Northern Idaho still blows me away - I saw 3 big horn sheep drinking water from the side of 1-90 on a recent trip to Missoula. I don't have any gear yet but I understand the fly fishing cannot be be beat - I've flown in and out of Butte a half dozen times and the flights are all full of Japanese tourists wearing spotless fishing vests that don't smell...

30 years of winters kicked my ass, but for a great little house like that I might be moving next door. (Well maybe a couple blocks from you...) And winter in Phoenix.

Prolly a cool and relaxed vibe there too, or is it redneck hick?

Welp, we'll see if they need me when I get out of grad school. Im planning a huge, interview-laden road trip out west.

I'd say pretty relaxed - I still think its cool to see little gray haired grandmas driving their quads (without helmets) to Walmart. Perkins was voted the towns best restaurant and, you'll like this a lot, Obama and his hot mama spent July 4th weekend campaigning around town.

I hate you, houses here in Vermont of that size, location, etc would run upwards of $450,000 to $500,000. No joke.
Oh and that is without the garage.

Haven't heard that name in a long freakin' time. Post stripper bar breakfast with a handful of big haired coke whores brings back many fond memories!

I have pix of my Korean stripper I lived with off and on for a couple years I need to scan and share...

Edit: Teaser shot. Might be a good friday thread...
