I had a chance to test Time Machine out the other day. We have an iMac at work that had a hard drive fail, it was acting flaky and I managed to get a full Time Machine backup off it the day before the hard drive went.
I didn't need to save any files on there, but I wasn't looking forward to reinstalling everything, calling Adobe to explain to them why I needed to reactivate CS3, and rebuild a Lightroom catalog with all the previews.
I fired it up with the install DVD, (the Apple store turned it around in one day...they are pretty good as long as they don't have to send it out for work, that takes much longer) told it to restore from the Time Machine backup, and 3 hours later everything was up and running perfectly again.
I'm quite impressed...
