did you see the video? Disgusting! That story could use a little more detail.
Ahh. No, I do not see a video. It's probably firewalled. I was wondering why there was a big empty white section of the webpage above the story.did you see the video? Disgusting!
What if the guy who'd ALREADY been tazered couldn't get up? A guy laying on the ground "refusing" to get up is not excuse to taser him again.
when we had school fights, we never kicked a guy on the ground... cowards.
Who doesn't wish for the days of no video and nightsticks?Well he was brown and muslim so he probably deserved it.
I do find it comical that they were shocking him because he wouldn't get off the floor.
After being tazered, he may not have been able to.Uh, did not know what "stand-up" means?
Well that's good because it will keep those people from breeding.did you know there's a chance your testicles can rupture when tazered?
Because then they would be terrorists who hate America.why didn't the students jump the security?
According to the article on the school's newspaper, that is what he was doing. But on the other hand, the police ask you to leave, you might want to get it together and get going...
The article also states that the individual was in fact a student.http://dailybruin.com/news/articles.asp?id=38958
The CSOs left, returning minutes later, and police officers arrived to escort the student out. By this time the student had begun to walk toward the door with his backpack when an officer approached him and grabbed his arm, at which point the student told the officer to let him go. A second officer then approached the student as well.
The student began to yell "get off me," repeating himself several times.
It was at this point that the officers shot the student with a Taser for the first time, causing him to fall to the floor and cry out in pain.
Oh, yeah... I remember when I learned about the escalation of violence in the military, they said it was perfectly ok to taser someone who simply asked for your name.........Laila Gordy, a fourth-year economics student who was present in the library during the incident, said police officers threatened to shoot her with a Taser when she asked an officer for his name and his badge number.
But...but....but...he didn't have an accent!!Yep, there's the problem....
But according to a study published in the Lancet Medical Journal in 2001, a charge of three to five seconds can result in immobilization for five to 15 minutes, which would mean that Tabatabainejad could have been physically unable to stand when the officers demanded that he do so.
I attended a Cal State school that had real police officers on campus. I do not know however, if that is the norm throughout the Cal State and University of CA schools. Was it the real Police or campus security types? I've done much worse to campus security and never got tazered. I also ran much faster than campus security.
That would be true if the guy had assaulted someone over the fact that they asked him to leave...since he apparently didn't, it hardly seems fair to blame both parties here.Seems to me like both parties are equal dumbasses.
You mean this name?Seems to me like both parties are equal dumbasses.
Any student in their right mind knows you gotta carry your student ID pretty much everywhere while you are attending said university. You wanna use their library?---carry your ID--pretty simple. Nobody, save for the most beligerant of offenders, needs to be tazered over a suspected trespassing offence. All they had to do was call the guys name in and find out if he's a student or not.......
Yeah, that would work. <--- hey that's Mostafa right there isn't it? (he is the one on the ground)Mostafa Tabatabainejad, a UCLA student
not to be da grammer nazi, but is u a college studint? the spelin n grammer mad it herd 2 unnersant yer post.Cops are getting to anxious to use their new toys!!! Cops must be tazed before they can carry one, they should have know what the effects were. Being that he would not be able to get up after already getting tazed. I think it was the police, I really don't think they have rent a cops at UCLA. At UCSB they are full blown black and white's, AR-15's, 45's, mase & betting sticks.

Well (I'm completely out on a limb here after 4 beers at lunch...) I'm reasonably certain that a campus like UCLA would have it's own police force...complete with pistols, night sticks, and, yes, 9mm's. I know that the low-light acheiving athletic school of the U of W (in Seattle...) has their own police force for the campus and surrounding areas...it is its' own autonomous force even in the city limits of Seattle....go figure....Cops are getting to anxious to use their new toys!!! Cops must be tazed before they can carry one, they should have know what the effects were. Being that he would not be able to get up after already getting tazed.
