The Urge Cabo Verde auctions will start from the 15th of January on the Urge Cabo Verde website and on ebay. They’ll be running for several months with one or two auctions every 10 days.

We remind you that the items sold are given away for free by the riders or the Urge Cabo Verde partners and all benefits will be fully donated to the humanitarian auctions supported by Urge Events in Cape Verde.

You’ll be able to find bikes and high end frames, the most beautiful MTB brands, limited editions, and even completely unique bikes. Some will be named after single-tracks from Cape Verde, some will be brand new, others will be real collectors! For those who want to participate but don’t want or can’t afford a bike, lots of nice surprises will be for sale this year. It’s a good occasion to grab a bargain but also and especially to contribute in the meantime to a better future for children in Cape Verde.

At the end of each auction, a meter will allow you to directly follow the total amount of money gained for the humanitarian actions which we hope will beat all the records this year! This meter will start directly with 5000 Euros, with 4000 Euros coming from Punch Power and 1000 Euros from LOL Racing.
The total amount from these sales will be completed by the payment of 10% of the retail price of each “Endur-O-Matic Cabo Verde Special Edition” helmet that will be launched by Urge Bike Products after the event.

Here you go, it’s now your turn to keep an eye on the auctions and… to take part!

We start right now with a Mondraker bike offered by Fabien Barel.

Urge FOR Cabo Verde...100%

In order to leave not only bike tire tracks behind them, but to bring their modest contribution to the host country, the riders, organizers and partners of Urge Cabo Verde wanted this year to go even further into the humanitarian actions they want to support. The initial choice is to keep on supporting children and education, with the obligation to engage in sustainable and concrete actions.

To respect this wish, several organizations and their projects have been considered. With the help of Cape Verde managers, some of them were selected and the meeting set-up with them while doing the pre-ride checks in December which allowed the confirmation of the definitive support program. The choice has been made to divide the total amount of funds collected by the auctions and the partners’ donations between 4 Cape Verde organizations that impressed us by the work they do on a daily basis, their commitment and professionalism of their staff.

Each organization put together a program with figures that would be achieved depending on the collected funds.

So, funds will be shared in 4 parts and distributed this way:

40% will go to the “Pedro Gomez High School" in Praia, Santiago Island. It’ll be used under the supervision of Mrs. Sandra Querido and coordinated by Mr. Jean François Gomis. This school, which is very important and dedicated to children living in difficult situations, will be associated with Urge Cabo Verde, especially to provide balanced meals for children coming from disadvantaged background and having nutrition problems, to support transportation and education costs when necessary and then to give to a maximum of them access to education in decent conditions.

20% will go to the "Escola Secundaria da Cova da Figueira" on Fogo Island. It’ll be used under the supervision of Brooke Broe and Manuel, in particular to finance a project of opening a library on the island.

20% will go to the association Acarinhar which takes care of children with cerebral diseases on the archipelago. It will be managed by its dynamic and dedicated director Mrs. Teresa Mascarenhas and will help with buying equipment, supporting medical costs and taking awareness actions towards the general public.

20% will go to the "HorHum Cabo Verde" (Horizontes Humanos) association on the Santo Antao Island.
It will be coordinated by its director Andre who also is the technical partner of this Urge Cabo Verde with his company CV Bikes. These funds will help the association in financing some of its actions towards education, social support and the development of cultural activities.

All the aids will be coordinated by the Urge Events organization in partnership with the Cape Verde managers of these associations and under the friendly supervision of our “godmother” Cesaria Evora.

The wish of all the participants of this Urge Cabo Verde is to collect as much funds as possible and to make sure everyone feels involved in this beautiful human and sports adventure. Each one can and will bring his contribution for our sport, mountain biking, to leave to people of Cape Verde not only a good impression but also concrete improvements of the daily life of children of the archipelago!

Riders will enjoy a bit of free time left in the program to meet these associations, the people who run them and the children they help.

Urge Events would like to thank in particular Isabel Varela, from the Cape Verde embassy in Washington, as well as Doctor Christophe Bastid, from the Honorary Consul in Marseille, from their precious help they bring to this humanitarian aspect and the entire project.
