Man, people go fast these days, but the riding was so sketchy back then...way scarier to watch...

At that point bikes had decent brakes and suspension. Eight years earlier, bikes had cantilever brakes from cyclocross bikes and no suspension but the geo was quite a bit slacker.

the funny thing is.........there are kids on the trails today with 4 thousand dollar bikes and 300 dollar helmets who count grams and shave weight to get the lightest parts and newest gear and will still never beat the times in that video.
