very helpful, thanks i see now.

read somewhere they use lew rims.

whats your thought on lew stuff?

The Lew stuff has always been cutting edge. Good wheels. I worked with a team years ago that was sponsored by them, and we only had one mishape the entire year, not bad.
I have no idea of the wheelset you are talking about though. Do you know if they were built up by Velomax themselves, or is this a home user who got some riims and built them himself? If it's a home mechanic job, 95% of the time they're going to be over tightened, so be carefull.
Ahh as with everything you buy online, buyer takes a risk....

Lew is a good company. They do a lot of aerospace stuff too. Mr. Lew was the the person that invited the Humpy Bumper NASCAR was looking at using on the cars. He also got Shimano straight on how to make carbon stuff.

Careful with those Corimas, the older ones had some...issues. We have some here from a while back when Look rebranded them, and they all pretty much broke. We have some tubulars here on a special edition bike, and no one will ride them.

Though I did scrounge a front clincher for my commuter. Talk about overkill...

i have a stage race sept 1-2 here in amarillo. should be fun. get back to my roots of a JR roadie.
Cool, should make some nice race wheels. I know the feeling I've ben getting back to my roadie roots these days. Forgot how sketchy feeling a 40-50mph mountain road decent is.

the first link was a home build. we've taken some old zipp rims at my friends shop and done similar jobs with the velomax hubs. not hard to do if you know what you're doing.
buy em, break em, and fix em.
alex you want to make me some carbon wheels to test out for ya :)
