The Whiteface Mountain XC Fall Classic will be a challenging, lower mountain layout with climbing and fast, fun downhill sections. Laps will be approx. 6 miles in length and will take about 45 minutes to 60 minutes per lap. The start/finish area will be at the main base lodge with some good spectator views and pit support. Food and beverages will be available onsite. Whiteface Mountain is a family friendly venue with concessions and facilities available. Dogs on leashes are welcome also. Gondola rides are available for spectacular views of the Adirondacks.

Cash Purse for each of the Pro Men and Women categories will be $500-$250-$100 for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places.

Cash for Expert categories will be based on number of riders for top 3 places.

Sport and Beginner categories will receive merchandise from our sponsors. Great prizes to be awarded !

This is a USA Cycling Permitted Sanctioned Event - All USA Cycling and UCI Rules will be followed.

* PLEASE ENTER YOUR AGE CATEGORY BASED ON YOUR AGE ON 12/31/08, NOT YOUR CURRENT AGE.

* Entry fees have been discounted for pre-registration. Race-day registration fee will be $35.

* Experts and Pros are required to have corresponding license and must show proof at day of registration at event: USA Cycling license, Collegiate license, UCI license, or Canadian Cycling license.

*Annual and 1-day licenses available onsite. Annuals $60, under age 18 are $30. 1-day licenses are available for Sport and Beginners for $5/day.

*Special RACE AND STAY PACKAGE DEAL is available including Race Registration Fee, Hotel, and Breakfast for an additional $37. Based on double occupancy at the Swiss Acres Inn, Lake Placid, NY. The course will be approx. 5 miles in length and include approx. 650 vertical of climbing per lap. Bill may chime in and correct me if I am wrong but i believe this is close.

This will be a very fun course with as much single-track as possible. To finish the loop you will use trails 6 & 7 (Ausable Loop and River Run). 2 awesome sections of beautiful woods, dropping you right down to the Ausable River and the rapids you hear beforehand.
Then your right at the base area again with all your friends and family cheering you on.

I can't believe we waited so long to have a x-c race here? Crazy!

Here are 2 pictures of trail 19. Trail 19 will be some of the early single-track in the beginning of the loop. I must get some pictures of trail 6 & 7. Basically just beautiful single-track!

WHITEFACE FALL CLASSIC CROSS COUNTRY MOUNTAIN BIKE RACE, PRESENTED BY HIGH PEAKS CYCLERY, HITS THE TRAILS SEPTEMBER 20


WILMINGTON, N.Y. – The Whiteface Fall Classic Cross Country Mountain Bike Race, presented by High Peaks Cyclery, hits the trails of Whiteface Mountain on September 20 at noon.

The Fall Classic has four divisions broken down by age and gender: beginner, sport, expert and pro. It is a challenging race featuring a lower mountain layout with a climb of 650 feet as well as fast, fun downhill sections. Each lap is approximately five miles in length with the start/finish line area at the main base lodge. The beginners take two laps around, with the sport division taking three and the expert and pros making four trips around the course. Riders should finish a lap in 30-45 minutes. The winners of the pro divisions will each receive a cash prize of $500, with the second place finishers each winning $250 and the third place finishers each earning $100. The winners of the expert divisions also receive a cash prize while the sport and beginner winners earn merchandise.

Entry fees are $30 per competitor before September 20. Riders may register on race day for $35. The Fall Classic is a USA Cycling permitted sanctioned event - USA Cycling and UCI rules will be followed. Expert and pro riders are required to have a corresponding license and must show proof of license at event. USA Cycling, Collegiate, UCI, or Canadian Cycling licenses are accepted. Beginner and sport riders may purchase a one-day license at the mountain for just $5.

Spectators will be able to watch the race from the base lodge area for free. Scenic gondola rides from the base lodge to the top of Little Whiteface will be available for $17 per adult, and $12 for juniors/seniors. Centerplate, ORDA’s concessionaire, will have food and drink available for purchase throughout the event.

We are marking the course today (Thursday 9-18) so it will be ready to practice on Friday the 19th.

It's been sunny and dry for the last 3 or 4 days. I will take pictures along the entire course today and put them on this thread tonight.

70 and sunny in the Adirondacks. Nice!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
