I am building a Cove Stiffee FR from assorted parts and am close to completion. For Brakes, I have had to scounge a bit and ended up with a new Deore 525 for the front, and an older XT 755 for the rear. I want use the XT caliper on the front for its superior stopping and I have found that I can use the Deore lever to activate it. The problem is the mount - I am using a 2002 z1 qr20. I had to space the caliper away from the fork mount a bit, which was fine, but the caliper sits too high off the disc, only grabbing maybe half. Anyone know if there is an an adapter for this?

cheers

The problem is, if you use a rear I.S. caliper on the front, it will require a 15mm larger rotor than if it were on the rear.

Get a 185mm Hope or Avid rotor, and enjoy yourself.

As for the rear brake, if you have a post-mount Deore caliper, be sure you get a rear adapter, otherwise you'll have to use a 145mm rotor which doesn't technically exist....
