why is it justified because she hit the 7 year old. she didnt punch the seven year old! maybe they were on the beginner slope and the girl was out of control. she was appologizing as well. accidents happen ya know. its not like the teen was punching the 7 year old in the back of the head.

that dad is a P.O.S i hope he gets punched in the back of the head. friggin loser cant control his temper enough to not beat up a 16 year old girl.
:stupid:

Gotta know the whole story, number one. Like Ben said, maybe she was a beginner out of control.

In the end though, (with VERY VERY few exceptions) men should not hit women. Period. That guy is a piece of ****.

Agreed, or the 7year old could have been the one out of control even and just cut off the girl fast enough that she couldn't react, we just don't know.

I've been snowboarding for 15 years and I've seen the whole skiier vs. snowboarder thing since the O.G. days - and this isn't one of those incidents.

Some middle-aged Dad blew a gasket and went medieval on a 16 year old girl. Clearly this man has some problems and issues in his life that led him to the decision that beating down a teenage girl for an accident was the right thing to do. The guy is nuts. Any rational thinking individual would have recognized it as an accident and left it at that.

Apparently Dad didn't seem to notice this because he was too busy trying to stomp the teenager while she was giving her apology.

This guy needs to ease off the caffine throttle, take stock of his life and seek the counseling of a professional therapist.

Imagine if it was YOUR teenage daughter he was beating on.

^ you don't have any clue as to what the facts are. Perhaps give the dad a break.

I've never had a close call with a skier, but many times with a snowboarder.

Perhaps snowboarders need to "ease off the caffine throttle, take stock of his life and seek the counseling of a professional therapist"?

the boarder was in full gear... the father (probably) knew nothing about who the boarder was, their age or sex.

What y'all are saying is that it would've been ok for the dad to beat down a 25 yo guy.

Boy S.S. this seems like the first season I've experienced where EVERY DAY that I'm up boarding half the ski population is running skis that have at least 5" tips on the front. And even on days where there hasn't been pow for like a week.. must be the new trend.
Yes. It's obscene. :p

Of course, I've had a powder day every day but one so far. :thumb:

Now that is a very good point.

Not saying it's OK to beat down 25 year old guy. Just saying that you don't hit women.

It's not the fact that they're snowboarders, it's just that a lot of 14 year old buttplug boys are snowboarders. They bother skiiers more than the fact that they're on a snowboard.
that goes with the assumption that skiers are all far more mature than these "buttplug boys"

no, we are not all saying that. as someone already mentioned, accidents happen. it's not yr god-given right to suddenly become CHARLES BRONSON at the slightest hint of percieved mal-intent from others.

well, i guess you could do that, but it also makes you a huge azzhole.

bottom line, we don't know the detailed events. but hey, it's fun to drag out stereotypes, isn't it?

I've never hit someone for cutting me off, knocking me down, or just pissing me off.

That said, I don't have a 7 yo daughter and can imagine that if I ever do, I'd be extremely protective.

What he did was wrong, but everyone ripping on him, well, let's see how y'all would react if you ever have a child.

When I do have a child I would hope I would be a little more even tempered. We don't know all the details. Period. Maybe he was just having a bad day. It happens to the best of us, but at 7 years old the kid is pretty impressionable. This isn't the kind of action I would want to teach my kid is acceptable. It certainly sounds like it was a LITTLE accident. I don't recall reading anything about the 7yo being airlifted off the mountain or taken away in an ambulance. Pick everybody up and enjoy the rest of the day. If the kid has a "boo boo" take her to the lodge and get her some cocoa. Seems like a better alternative than taking her to the police station to watch daddy get booked.

Couldn't this somehow be GWB's fault?
Of course it is! If GWB was a better president then the father wouldn't have been so frustrated by losing his job due to cutbacks to help fund tax loopholes for his boss' embezzlment account.

Either that or the guy was just an angry republican and wanted to beat up on a hippy snowboarder.

45 days in so far, all but 2 were POW. No violence yet....but I do see a LOT of moron skiers and boarders milling around in stupid places, clueless as to what is going on around them. Gotta go, it is DUMPING at Targhee right now....

so what you are saying is its ok to hit a 16 year old girl in the back of the head repeatedly? Even more to the point many of you are saying you would hit a 16 year old girl in the back of the head repeatedly. Pussies. Go beat up some teen age girls at the mall.

I AM hitting on teen age girls at the mall. Would punching them be more appropriate for a 33 year old man?

Fer chrissakes the 16 yo IS a child. If you are standing in front of someone, smacking them repeatedly in the back of the head and can't tell what sex they are you need to open your eyes. I think its sadly hilarious this F-up of a Dad took the situation to this level. Not only did he prove himself to be the a55hole he obviously is to anyone who read the article, but also to his child. Also, in the piece I read he continued to threaten to "****** kill" the 16 yo after strangers seperated the two. Yeah, that's being protective. As Sorgie commented on, which do you think would have a more long term effect on the 7 yo, being knocked down by the girl or watching your Father hit another young girl, have to get seperated by strangers, listen to him threaten to kill someone, then watch as the local PD takes him in?

Cool! Exactly how are you standing in front of someone and hitting them on the back of the head. Are you Stretch Armstrong or something. Cuz he ruled as a childhood toy. :thumb:

And unfortunately this one lived continuing the gene pool and getting wonderful social skills from her dad.

Running over someone's skis is no big deal. Falling down from it is no big deal.

I've done both and had both done to me many times. I'm on skis or a snowboard several times a week and see this kind of crap regularly.

Beating on some 16 year old, especially a girl because your little precious fall down go boom boom is the sign of a real prick. And don't tell me by the first punch and ensuing noise she made he had no idea he was pounding on a girl.

I live in tahoe and see plenty of tourism and this guy has no clue how to conduct himself on a ski hill. He's just as much to blame for bringing his little bundle of joy to the hill in the first place. And he deserves retribution when he's subject to this kind of behavior. I'd bet money this guy spends very little of his time skiing and as such expects total protection and respect for his little kid under any circumstance. Ignorant and selfish.
