Alright, I just like everyone else have to post my new frame. It's nothing outa the ordrinary, but it's what I've wanted for a LONG time.

It's been a year without a real DH sled, since mine got stollen at Whistler, but the new one is here and I'm stoked!

I'm just wondering on a few parts for the build.... I want to build it up as a lighter weight racer. What do you guys think?

Wheels? I'm thinking DT Swiss 440-Fr (if there is something cheaper that would work as well and weigh about the same or less, I'm up for it!)

Cranks? I want to do something light, I don't break parts so was thinking about trying a set of Hone... can go Saint of Diablos, but just think it's to much for me.

Der? Do I do x.9 or x.0?

The rest of the parts I'm pretty set on.

You better knock on wood. Personally I have always liked Holzfellers, but if your not too keen on those go with some Middleburns or XT Hollowtech's.

that frame is very nice. I'm looking at holzfellers cranks for myself and hope bulbs laced to 823's. The holzfellers weigh 755 grams with teh howitzer bb, which is lighter than the xt's.

if you have the money, and you are manley just doing racing, then go with the XO, otherwise if you run around doing alot of trail riding x9 should do fine. however its seems you want to go light so XO is mostl likley what you are looking for

I've had good luck with the WTB DH rims. They are easy to get through quality/BTI and seem to hold up fairly well. They are decently light for thier width and I seem to be able to get a season or 2 out of them before they are completely dead. Pretty goof for a DH rim.

Congrats, going to be a great rig. I would get the XT cranks over the LX or Hone. X9 over X0 just because of the durability issue with the carbon taking rock hits.

Go for a Magura Wheelset if available in US, same hub as the FR440 but cheaper.

Frame looks great, I would go with middleburn cranks, if you wanted to save some money on wheels check out the Azonic Outlaw set

Ive had both and I would definitely say the carbon X.0 is stronger. (Allthough I have not used the new black box X.0)

My XT hollow 2s weigh 698 grams with BB and no chainrrings.

ok because i looked on universal cycles website and i guess that they weighed the xt cranks with 3 chain rings. My bad.

So it looks like the XT's will be a good option, the Middleburn still use the ISIS BB and I'm digging the external bearings now that I have some time on them. I do like hearing that someone had Hones on their bike too!

The wheels are up in the air!... I haven't seem many of the Hope bulb hubs come through my shop, so I don't know how their quality is.

Some have brought up Hadly hubs with Sun or Mavic rims... that's an option.

Does anyone have any experience with the DT-Swiss rims?

If any of you guys have experience on any of the wheels here please let me know what you think.

Thanks for all the info guys! I appreciate every bit of it.

XTs are weighed with 3 rings, so how 'bout no.

I'm running Sun Singletracks right now and I swear by them. They're the strongest wheels I've run compared to Mavics and they are light too. I would get those personally. Plus they're welded not pinned, pinned rims suck.

Their fine as long as you weigh less than 5lbs.

I disagree with you. I weigh 185 and granted there are stronger rims out there but I have to tell you that I have been running the same set of singletracks now for over 2 years and they are still running strong. They have held up to drops, jumps, racing, and crashes. The only problem I have with them is the rear is out of true and it has a bit of a flat spot but other then that, they are still rollin'.

Holzfeller's weigh 755g without the bb, and with only one chainring and no bashguard. Add another 365g and you'll get closer to a weight you can compare to x-type cranksets that include bearings...

Dura ace rear der. and either xtr ti cassette or 105, wtb laser v dh ti saddle, middleburn cranks, mavic ex 729 or 823's on rims, the dt are great hubs. sdg or thomson on the post integrated stem on the for if available.
All are great choices but thats my .02 cents and may not be right for you.
Love the frame cannot wait to see it built, v-10's just don't get old to look at. 2 big :thumb: up

I've used the single tracks and they seem to dent a bit, but stay round and pretty true through most everything. This is coming from a guy who rode Whistler at least once a week last year (when I had a bike)

But when I saw the DT's they interested me. Plus alot of my buddies are trying to get me to run Mavics with Hadley hubs. Figure it might be time for something new, and wanted to see what alot of you all run.
