I've noticed this morning my shock had started making a new sound. I've got my bike brand new last week and just manage yesturday to put out a few hours on it, and it was great but today i wake up, got to the bike and it started clicking from the rear. So it's a clicking sound at the begining of the stroke in the compression (not the rebound nor the pass from comp to reb - just a few mm from the start of the compression). I've checked the pivots of the suspension ant there are no issues with them, i've cleand the bushings too but it's still there. There is more than enough pressure in the system, it's got no air (no undamped travel) and i'm running the propedal at about 50% with the bottom out at 75% (i like running heavy damping with lighter spring). But i can't figure out what could be making the sound. There seams to be a relation between it and the Propedal adjustment (seams to change when i open the adjuster up) but it could be just the ease on the begining of the stroke with less damping. It dissapears when i compress the bike real slow and the speed at wich it apears increase or decrease when PP adjustment is either full off or full on - just how a LSC damper should work. And it seams to dissapear (or reduces) when the bike is sagged.

Could it be the sound of the Propedal opening up the LSC?

Any of you had this issue, and/or any idea how to fix it (i've got no problem riding it this way, but if it could escalate in to a problem i won't)?

So far there is no change in performance/adjustability of the shock.

Thanks!

this may be a silly suggestion but make sure that the ends of your spring coils are turned past the slot in the adjuster nut that tightens it.

For one, propedal isn't really a low speed compression adjuster. at least not in the traditional sense; it works more like a blow-off valve. i can't remember it making any noise, but I like most people i know ran it pretty much fully open. the lsc adjusment on a vivid, ccdb, or avy feels different from what you get with pro-pedal.

anyway, more to the point. every time my dhx, or any other shock for that matter, made the sort of noises you are describing the culprit was the spring not sitting quite right. if its a bit crooked sometimes it will creak or click wen it's compressed. try moving it around a bit and see if the noise goes away. or maybe the propedal is just noisy when you crank it in.

i had a prototype propedal shock back in '03 and it made a constant knocking sound every time the valve opened up. couldn't hear in on the track but it was super annoying riding around the pits or cruising around in the woods. maybe you're experencing something similar? but i'd check the spring first.

Ok, i removed the spring and it's there again. There is a change in compression damping after the clik as if that's the point in wich the ProPedal engages. I noticed the ProPedal does not engage at the begining of the travel (when i ride other shox) and it's more like a mid-speed damping but...

Could it be that loud?

I couldn't notice the sound when i did a spin arownd home :monkey:

In late 2004/early 2005 this exact issue came up on the first batch of production DHX's that got sent out, from what I can remember it was the propedal valve clicking in the beginning of the stroke. I got a shock from the next batch (from around April 2005) bacause they said that they had resolved the clicking issue and I never had a problem with it for the year that I ran it.

Call Fox up and let them know, they should know exactly what's going on with it.

I've sent them an E-mail, mine seams to be an 07/08 (from the decals). Let's hope they know what's up with it :clue:
