For those who want the low down. It stayed pretty dry for the most part on the top and at the bottom, but those two rock berm drops were pretty much sloppy mud fun. Wasn't conducive for the best of time, but it was doable. All in all it was much better than last years conditions.

Everyone who didn't come missed out for sure.

thanks to george and chop and the massanutten crew for another great race! new timing system seemed to work well and the racing actually ran ahead of schedule!

i capped off a weekend of great fast practice runs with a horrendous crash in the first rock section. my hand slipped off the grip halfway through and i had my first taste of ground all weekend. i'm home rockin the elevation and ice pack.

great seeing all of you out there!

great pics tom and dj! :thumb:

race was a blast as usual although i had a much better time this year after boosting my confidence in riding wet rocks over the past year....last year was just plain scary at times.

i only snagged a few random pit pics:

man, Neko is finally starting to look older now...isnt he still 17?

congrats on the kid's 2nd Rich

Pretty sure Neko is only 16 - Neko had a super fast race run even though he got held up a bit by another rider.

Thanks

Im over here now
Neko turned 16 on 2/19/09.
He has grown a bit. Six feet tall and nearly 175 lbs. His training program puts him into the gym twice daily and he eats like it's his job.
this wouldnt happen to be his old man would it?

Before my race runs both last year and this year, I watched the pros and Jr. X's through the upper rock garden, and both times Neko was clearly the fastest guy through there. He almost ate it this year after bunny hopping that gap and landing on some slime, but he threw this crazy body-english move to save it and didn't even lose any momentum, much less slow down. My GF was there next to me and snapped this pic of the save:

Massanutten is the best resort for racing all around, plus 2 BBQ places right by the mountain, sold!

I wish Massanutten had more than one race.

Huge thanks again.

Do the Hoo Ha later in the year. Plenty of downhill racing, you just have to do some uphill racing at the same time.
