Its only named in factors of 3: M3, M6, M9, M12 ect. Good looking bike and it would be sweet if the shock changed to 9.5

Those pics are from yesterdays Rd.3 of the Irish National DH series, was held in Dunmanway, Co.Cork. Kovarik won with Simmonds right there with him, "veteran" Irish racer Colin Ross was only 4secs back in 3rd. Matti Lehikoinen could only manage 5th place with some understandable stoked Irish riders getting in infront of him!

The course they raced on has some real steep sections and is a decent test of bike handling skills. Good to see the CRC/Intense boys in their main sponsors homeland.

Probably the best chance for a podium with all their riders on, shame they didn't pull it off.

New bike looks nice, not a massive departure from the m6 evo though

if you look close at the first photo there seems to be a weld down the middle on the top tube. so they are using the same methods as always

The best part is I'm sure Intense is half way done drawing this bike's successor....

Can somebody please explain the differences between the M6, M6 EVO, and the M9. I'm just not seeing it. The only difference I can see is the different shock mounting positions on the front triangle on the pics of the M9. Other than that and an adjustable headtube.... nadda. Is there really enough of a change to warrant a new bike moniker? The diff between M1 and M3... huge. M3 and M6... huge. If you are going to launch a new line.... shouldn't it be different? What's wrong with just making it "the new M6" and advertising it as an improvement on an already rave reviewed bike....

Okay it's an improvement on the M6 then. And the new M6 is called the M9. Think of i as an upside down 6 if that will help . . .

I think some people are just worried their stickers will look out dated

Better to be constantly evolving, testing, trying new things than to be worried about what the resale value of some guys beat m6 is going to be.

It's a downhill bike. If you're riding it hard, chances are the resale isn't going to be that great when you decide to sell it anyways.

but what's the story with all the models, how do they differentiate into the various market segments?
951, M6 EVO, M9?
951 and M6 (M9) are 2 different bicycles. They ride different, different geometry, M9 is more travel than 951, and the M9 costs more than 951. I repeat, 2 very different DH bikes.

I curious about the marketing approach that Intense in going to take once both the 951 and M9 are in production at the same time. I understand the bikes are different and know why I would buy one versus the other (I think), but I'm curious how Intense will try to market these two to the public.

I imagine it will go beyond just the price point since these are 'very different' bikes.

I think they might be heading to Fort William next weekend which is a boat and drive from Northern Ireland, were CRC are based so don't think they'll be stuck here

I dont mind paying my anus out for something made with proper gauge tubes and that will last and work like it did the first day.

p.s I hope it weights 11 pounds.
Too bad that will be unlikly.

I'm just hoping that they fixed all the creaking/backing out bolt issues!
Been riding Intense bikes for the past 6 + years.

Also hope they've made the swing arms stronger then on previous bikes. I've broken a few triangles, 3 swing arms and 6 linkages on my bike.

Its a basic intense santacruz vpp rear from the years+ 951 downtube+m6 top tube looks wise.

Looks stellar all I can say.

However if theres one thing I do remember waiting in line at bromont,is if theres a bike you can hear coming down the hill, its an intense.

As far as turner goes,I watched the 2009 interbike video, and wats the wait.Is he waiting until he gets all the money before he starts the fab of the first batch ?!?!?! I'd be whilling to bet thats not far.....

p.s

wen is this seat going to be available.....

wow. you might want to pick your lines instead of plowing through everything
werd. or consider getting something that will handle what ever is being dished out a little better. i don't break much stuff, but i would have moved on to something else long before i tallied up those results if i were breaking stuff......repeatedly.

disclaimer - i am not suggesting Intense are bad frames, i have had no experience on them.

I generally take the fastest line down the race course so I get the best result I can. Sometimes that means my bike gets a beating and I expect it to stand up to it. Sure it needs new rims sometimes but I don't think you can be taking racing semi seriously but pick the nice smooth lines so you dont beat your bike up, that just wouldn't work.

You might try riding faster instead of posting on the net. But if you did that, you'd race pro, like he does. Mike breaks so much stuff from a a combination of really nasty terrain where there are NO smooth lines, riding really hard and riding a lot. All of this requires stepping away from the keyboard and not being an E-douche.
