Still using some DH24's I've had lying around.
Can't wait to hear some reviews, I've always been a fan of Michelin.

The new 2.5 DH tires are 1300 grams, and the 2.25 DH tires are 1135.

Can a sponsored rider give us a simple rundown of the DH lineup? Are the 24 and 16 different? Is there a skinner 32? That's all I want to know.

The 24, 16, 32 lineup is gone. But some of the new tires look familiar!
Is this tire actually narrower than the old 32? "MICHELIN WildGrip'R 2.60 / Descent"
That tire is the same as always. No change there from what I have been told the Michelin guys. By the way its always been a 2.60 tire. Just miss labeled and has the Wildgrip"r name now.
The Wildgrip'R name is just a name brought back from the old days of DH racing (90 to 97). I still have some of the first Wildgrip"R DH tires.

They run a little large, I guess we'll have to wait to see if the actual production tires do as well. I am pretty impressed with the Rock'Rs', these tries rock! They are predictable as far as they're slip angle, and they have a high slip point, they hold firm on the rocks and clean the mud pretty damn good.

After seeing them mounted up on your bike, it was pretty cool to see the tire. It's a really open tread compared to the old Comp 24. And it was definitely a bigger casing than the 24. Inside of the sidewalls looks so high tech in person. It actually "looks" high tech.They run a little large, I guess we'll have to wait to see if the actual production tires do as well. As far as their new DH tires, anybody looking to get the new 2.5 wildrock'r
tires need to know it is a really BIG tire. Much bigger than a 2.5 comp 16.
I want a set for Windrock for sure.
But I will probaly end up running the New comp 16 most of the time. It looks like the improvements they did on that tire should make it perfect for me here.
The only new Michelin tires that I have are the trail tires. The new 2.1 wildgrip'r tires that Brian posted a pic of the 2.4 version. I really like these tires. Fast rolling, and a good compound for trail riding. Its a little more of finesse tire on the front. It didn't like getting up on the front tire and pushing aggressively, but it carves sweeping turns really well on those side knobs.
Also, size wise, my 2.1 tires are the same size as a 2.25 Maxxis advantage tire or a 2.2 Specialized Purgatory tire for reference. They run big and have good volume for their size.

can not see any differences between C16 and WildRock'r Descent 2.5
They stiffened up the side knobs on that tire to keep them from flexing under hard cornering. I run those tires 90 percent of the time anyway, so if they fixed that, I would probaly only take them off to put on spikes.
I also liked these tires a lot.

Well, I have not ridden them so I do not know for sure, but after seeing them in person, they look comparable tread pattern wise. The wildrock'r looks a little more open in the tread pattern than a Minion like it would clear mud better.
But if I was buying that tire for fast hardpack terrain, I would get the 2.25 version. I am telling you honestly, the 2.5 version of this tire was BIG.
Just under the size of the Comp 32.

If I not mistaken, the new 16 is called the 2.5 DH wildgrip'r, and the 2.6 DH wildgrip'r is the old 32. A little confusing for sure.

anyone seen the 2.25 in person? is that thing more in the 2.5 minion size?

Compound is the same....therefore epic.
i'm getting really antsy for some new michelin's....and ralph is getting really sick of my emails harassing him....can't wait for the new 2.5 descent or whatever it's called
good to know. I just ordered one on CRC. figured it was worth a shot...
All of the new tires in the DH line-up are 55a Shore compound, which is the same compound that was used in the previous Comp24-Comp32-Comp16 / DH24-DH32, etc.
Interested to see what the sidewalls are like...

The bad: from what I've heard, is despite the pictures online showing the "wildgripper descent 2.5" to look like a 2.5" version of the old comp 32 tire, it is indeed just a comp 16 relabeled....
More bad, the comp 24 is discontinued completely...good news is that the wildrocker replaces it and should be an improvement....

Also, tires should finally be available. My buddy at Michelin said a palette finally shipped...I should have some new tires to play with in a week or two.

Btw 16s are one of the best tires in the world but I thought they will be cheaper now as they are not made in france anymore.
