Seb I think you're right. Warner needs to put his **** together and do some homework.
Warner was just getting confused. If we take Gwin's top split as an example, we were told he was 0.81 up. Which he was, 0.81 quicker than the current hot-seat (Greg) to that point.

Warner was looking at the UCI live timing feed at the same time, which would have shown that Gwin was 3rd-fastest at the top split. Which he was, behind Gee and some random French guy, Bigoni.

These two things are not mutually exclusive - both bits of information were right, Warner got confused in the heat of the moment. A shame, as it detracted from the experience watching it - he plays Aaron's 5.5 sec lead down (although it was correct). I'd much rather he'd have been going "OH MY GOD! LOOK AT THE TIMMMEEEEEE!!" :D

I'm sure he'll have it sorted for Leogang... :)

My guess is that Shaums was right. Danny didn't get any bigger!
I know Shaums can shred, but why's a guy who never had much success against the clock doling out advice on racing against the clock?

Or are those classes more about teaching how to look ahead and lean into turns?

The following is a complete conjecture, but... anyone else drawing parallels between the way Hart rides now and the way Hill used to ride? Seems like when a smaller stature/**** the brakes-style rider tries to throw on some weight (remember Hill in the Vital 17 questions vid?) he slows down quite a bit as well. Curious to see how Hart will progress over the next few seasons.

watching Gwin 2 wheel drift his bike into that steep rocky left hand notch that caught stevie smith out gave me goose bumps, that kid has some serious skills. Almost like watching Stoner or Rossi 2 wheel drifting a drop away off camber at Catalunya.
Funny I was thinking MotoGP when I saw that, too, but was thinking more Garry McCoy.

Gwin does look like he's got Rossi's helmet mojo, though.

Some good racing there! Not sure which I prefer; to see [almost] every rider but on a smaller portion of the course, or to see less riders, but more of the course (I think that's what uci/freecaster did last year?).

The only other Warner-ism spoken (other than the foreskin comment above) was "more dangerous than a spanish cucumber" C'mon Warner, I'll send you some CO microbrews if you come up w/ more and better 'isms. :D

I think Hill being off the pace at Ft William had more to do with a lack of confidence. He almost killed himself there last year and then crashing in his qualifying run seems to make more sense than him slowing down due to being unfit.......

What happend to Fabien Barel ?
Looks like drivetrain trouble:
yeah apparently he folded his rear wheel...you can kind of see the busted spokes in the pic.
http://www.zapiks.fr/fort-william-mondraker-facto.html
He explains in their team video that he was drifting through one of the upper turns and folded his wheel over the edge of one of the bridges....http://video.mpora.com/watch/Iam7pqzL0/

so much preparation, and then that happens... that's gotta suck, but then that's also part of racing I guess...

On a side note, I'm amazed by the amount of team videos going up now, and the quality of them: CRC, Morewood United, Saracen, Lapierre, Mondraker are up so far... it gives a really unique insight into the preparation that goes into the track, and with that amount of videographers on track, we get a real varied vision of different portions of the track. Super stoked :thumb:

Anyone else see this? Analysis of rider stats
When is put like that, Greg is without a doubt, the best downhiller in history thus far. His podium rate/consistancy is mind blowing when you consider that it is over 10 years. And to think, he can only notch up more podiums and wins from here on out!
interesting stats but damn that was hard to read.

Very interesting, of note for me where the 2008 and 2011 Fort Wiliam Results. Show's how the competition has slowly caught up! 5seconds back was a podium in 2008 now it's 9th place! Sam Hill on the podium in Legoland, very likely.
