The UCI is a non-profit organization. Don't think anyone is getting rich.
There likely isn't anyone in the UCI hierarchy who isn't lining their pockets, directly or indirectly.

Non-profit doesn't mean employees are working for free.

i think its safe to say that no matter what happens this will be a world cup season we all remember for the rest of our lives, just like sam at val di sole 08 and champery 07.

thanks for all the good times freecaster.

After watching that video, I've concluded that the difference between Gwinn and the others is how efficiently he rides. There is ablsolutely no unnecessary movement in his riding. It seems that he does not force the bike to do anything it doesn't want to do but rather he is guiding it to the lines that he wants to ride. It's tough to detect his speed. Can't wait for the 3rd! Viva la Freecaster!

maybe I'm just a n00b to the industry, but doesn't banning your major media sources from providing media to the fans/money inputs typically not make much money?

Out of curiosity, where does the UCI get most of its money from? I would imagine the major bike companies and race venues? And maybe I'm going out on a limb here, but aren't both of those paying the UCI essentially to provide strong media coverage? e.g. lend legitimacy to the venue as the highest form of bicycle competition, as well as organize/bring fans in?

I can't imagine trek or specialized is too stoked about bringing out 8K plus DH bikes only to have coverage of them suddenly disappear. Or venues be real pumped about not getting people filming them. It seems like the UCI is in the process of pissing off *ALL* of their major sponsors MTB sponsorship right now. Its a bummer, because with a good realationship, everybody wins, but long run wont it be better simply because it gives the major venues and sponsors a chance to move away from the UCI as the major governing body?

can they still film outside the tape as a "spectator" and avoid their stupid fees?
2nd that question. Dont know about Champery but doing photos in Schladming outside the tape was uber easy for 3/4 of the track.

Champery probably wouldn't be too bad for practise, but once the hill starts getting busy you struggle for good footage.

If you take your 'press' badges off, I don't suppose there's much they can do!
I'd assume if Dirt released footage they'd prob be some repercussions for next year's blunderfest.

So Dirt are now saying that the lack of video footage from them is nothing to do with the Rocky Roads saga. Seems there's a lot going on here. Billy getting banned, other videographers prevented from filming, etc...

Of course it's not... why would it be? All dirt did was publish a publicly available press release off of the UCI site. I imagine the ban is more down to Billy filming somewhere/somewhen that he was told he wasn't allowed to?

Cam Cole had to be helicoptered off the mountain after he broke his arm in a crash this morning...that sucks for Cam!

Was it Champery where he broke his scaphoid, just before he moved to Lapierre?

Holy... Am I seeing that right? It's GBP15 to watch the race? That's almost $30 in my currency. Can they guarantee proper footage? I can't even get their course ride videos to load properly...

the feeds have been flawless for me this year. crisp and beautiful. their videos on the other hand have never been easy to watch. I wouldn't go by the vids to judge the quality of the feeds. I'm sure you won't be dissapointed. (btw, I have no affiliation with Freecaster - those are just my observations). enjoy the race!

Any comments on Matti Lehikoinen? At the end of the limit-video it looks like he took some serious injury to his wrist.

I know the pros all really want to win this one bad, but they all need to dial it back a notch to save it for finals. I want to see these guys safe, fast...and on it.

Healing vibes to all the downed riders!
