So who plays?
I started playing a year ago but I have about zero time to practice cause Im allways on the road.
Just bought a small acoustic guitar tho, and im really getting back into it.
Never had a lesson but Im playing some songs and just getting into bar chords, the F is my current challenge but Im getting there slow and steady.
So whats a couple easy songs that you enjoyed playing while learning?
Started playing last Christmas when my fiance got me cheap Epiphone acoustic. Played every day for at least 2-3 hours a day for a couple months. Picked up a nice Martin 000-15m and continued to play/practice every day. After about 5 or 6 months I decided I wanted to play music that I actually listened to (metal, all types) and bought my first electric . Since then I picked up a 7 string Ibanez electric and can't put it down, and rarely touch the acoustic anymore.

Lessons are a good idea for sure, or just find people that are better than you to play with. I know quite a few people that are much better than me, so I basically get free lessons as much as possible.

Check out justinguitar.com if you haven't yet. Lots of good stuff on that site.

Try to learn and have a general understanding of theory and chord construction. It will help drastically with writing your own stuff, and understanding some of your favorite songs better. Also learn how to read tab if you haven't yet.

Anyway, some of the songs I started playing on the acoustic when I first started:
Green Day: Good Riddance
CCR: Bad Moon Rising
Oasis: Wonderwall
Van Morrison: Brown Eyed Girl
Darius Rucker: Wagon Wheel
Johnny Cash: Folsom Prison Blues
The Animals: House of the Rising Sun
Nirvana: Polly

Thanks for the advice so far!
Been using ultimate guitar tabs mostly and thats been pretty helpfull. I can play plenty of songs but its all pretty basic, the ten chords I know appearently do make a ton of songs but I usually play the same ones over and over again...

Its allmost time for my annual 4month holiday so ill see if i can find someone where I live during the winters to teach me once a week or so. If im not too busy surfing. :D

.....though I guess I can say proudly that since my domestic situation changed, I have been going to see more live music which has served as a source of inspiration to learn new songs.

I have a handful of roughly 1 min clips of myself playing the newer stuff I've learned recently. I use them to play back to actually hear what it sounds like and make adjustments accordingly. The problem though is I never end up recording the final product...I lose interest by that point.

I have to fix my A hole. It has become worn and loose.

The hole for the A string in bridge of my acoustic has become worn and now the barrel/peg thingy won't retain the string when I put tension on it.

Started on upright bass/cello in 6th and 7th grade, took up guitar in 8th grade. How old are you in 8th grade? 13? 14? Crap... I've been playing guitar for nearly 30 years. Fack I'm old. At any rate, use to play in bands a bunch in college and after—some all original and some cover bands. Haven't played much just off-and-on since moving to Colorado. My new ladyfriend started learning around a year ago (before we started dating) so that's been a fun impetus to pick up the guitar and noodle around a bit.

(And prince is a genius guitar player)
So is MMoby.

I started playing guitar in high school, junior year I think. Took a few lessons to get started, then mostly just used tabs to learn how to play songs and mess around. Never played in band or anything. My dad had an electric guitar and amp from when he was young and played a bit which I used at first. The guitar was crappy, but the amp is worth something now being a vintage Fender Vibro Champ. After a couple years I bought a new guitar, Schecter C-1+ which I still have. Last year I replaced the pickups in it. In college I also bought a Marshall AVT 50 amp that I still have as well. I like the guitar, but the amp is only okay and not really what I want or need at this point. I really haven't been playing much at all the past few years to justify getting something else.

I had bought my daughter an acoustic guitar and she didn't much care for it. It sat mostly unused outside of a few lessons for 2 years and I ended up trading it in on her electric bass setup that she rocks and has been playing jazz 3/4 bass starting last year (7th grade).. I can't play a damn thing.

Been playing about 15 years. Ironically played in a band with my gf's brother long before I knew who she was. Currently have a solid body electric with floyd rose pro tremelo, solid body electric with fixed bridge, semi hollowbody and an acoustic electric. All Ibanez.

My specialty is the sportscenter theme. Ask adventurous.

where the trails are
since Mmike posted him and his daughter playing Pachebel ...

I've been watching this guy for a while now. He writes these amazing variations on known themes, songs, etc. This version of Canon in D is something else entirely (IMO).

Just listen to all that is going on ... it's beautiful.
