Nicholias rugoyten or something like that? Never heard of him, saw it on my face space feed. Caption said he finished his run
Rising slope star. Really good tricks but not as experienced big mountain. At least I didn't see him much outside of slope comps. He does have some mean tricks though.

Sounds several of the riders who qualified later went on to hurt themselves and remove themselves from the main event. Anybody have any idea if they're going to bump some of the riders who didn't make the cut?

Hopefully. A lot of riders had solid runs, but the level is so high now, it's unreal.

Tyler McCaul knocked himself out during afternoon practice and won't ride today. Anyone else drop out? Stikman saying there may only be one round of finals runs if the weather doesn't hold off.

Can't believe Rogatkin got up from that fall and still hit the canyon gap.

Anyone have info on the Nico Vink crash? From the pics posted above looks like the catch berm at the end of chute wasn't big enough to support him through the turn. Or was did he just get sketchy on the chute?

Looking at the qualifying list...

No Cam Zink or Kyle Strait?
Looks like he wasn't, which sucks. Everyone wanted to see him hit it. "Safe" riders are:
- Brandon Semenuk
- Brett Rheeder
- Kyle Norbraten
- Mitch Chubey
- Kurt Sorge
- Brendan Fairclough
- Kelly McGarry
- Szymon Godziek
- Andreu Lacondeguy
- Cam Zink
- Kyle Strait
- Jeff Herbertson
- Paul Basagoitia

The phenomenal amount of skill needed notwithstanding it's a little sad to think some of these guys are going to end up like Muhammad Ali at Atlanta, broken, shambling wrecks all so a little more over-caffenaited lolly water can be sold. At least tell me they've set-up a future fund to look after these blokes when they require around the clock care.

It looked like he hit the landing a little too far to the inside of the turn and high-sided over right into and then over the catch berm.

Not to say some of these guys won't end up in a vegetable garden, but I'd bet most of these guys take less hard shots than the average college football player, amateur boxer/MMF fighter, and there's no real long term safety net for those guys either (financial or otherwise). Given the magnitude of the moves they're hitting now, I'm more concerned about a catastrophic, lights out type of wreck.

This is a surprisingly coherent and serious post from Jackalope.

Mods, can we bump up mental acuity to 2%?

True enough but if you're good enough at those sports there is eventually financial compensation commensurate with the risk. I wonder if any of the riders at RR walk away minted, even though they're all at the top of the game.
