East Bay, Cali
Spent some time visiting family on the east coast last week. Every time I go out there I am reminded of how much better Cali is

The only thing I really appreciate in NJ/NY is that the ocean is warm enough to just float around in for hours. While in NYC checking out some bars and restaurants it started pouring around 10PM. You can't wear a rain jacket in 80deg heat and 80% humidity cause it will be just as wet inside. We were forced to wander around getting soaked while trying to hide under umbrellas. On a positive note the food at Boqueria was delicious and Brandy's Piano Bar was a super fun, high energy start to the evening.

Spent last night in SF taking a client out to dinner on the company dime. SF was gorgeous, around 60deg at 7PM, perfect for walking a few blocks to and from dinner. If you're looking for classy dining, great food and an interesting history, Johns Bar and Grill just off Powell st has it.

Yeah, it is, no question. Please remain there and defend it while we suffer on.

Went for sushi at lunch, with a friend. As we were eating, in walked a short, thin 60-something white guy in a dress shirt/pants combo, with a 20 year old, thinner than him and a foot taller, black girl wearing a skirt so short I could see up it from across the room. Guessing it wasn't his daughter here to tour the USC campus. The three sushi chefs couldn't hold in their amusement. They were falling over themselves and all but pointing.

do you own a pair?
If unsure, I'll lend you a pair for a few rides. I think the odds of them causing you to crash and burst into flames are low enough, for me anyway.
I own a single pair of SPD pedals, that;s it. Pared down the parts bin quite a bit in the last few years. Thought trying flats again might give me the confidence to work on a few moves I have gone all of my MTB years without learning: how to jump, actually bunny hop, wheelie or manual. At the moment I am solely a ground dwelling entity.

come by and grab a pair, or meet me for a beer later after work.

edit: you aren't a ground dwelling entity ... I remember you flew right off the trail at Monarch last year! ;)

Is there a good place near here? I'm always wary being so far from the coast :)

In hell. Welcome!
Rode a bit this evening. It is one of those days when after rain, humidity is sky high and everything is inexplicably slippery, worse than when wet or icy. I survived, now leftovers of Indian curry and a Cosmo.

My own world inside my head
Some f@cking people. The world just annoys the shit out of me sometimes these days. If you take issue with something someone does, or you just don't like how they are building up their new home. Grow some balls and talk to them. Don't be the chicken shit that talk all super nice and friendly to their face and turn around and file a false report to the local law enforcement.

Although, it is quite amusing when the Officer that knocks on your door to confirm a proper archery labe is the guy who helped you build it. Then said Officer goes to the one that filed the complaint and inform them of such information.

If you have not figured it out yet..... The one thing I really hate is two faced people.

Man... these guys are the best kind of idiots right here: http://trackleaders.com/ctr17

There's someone with same name as @6thElement on the tracker, had to do a double-take on that one. And i just found out I have a friend racing this year, he's holding strong just under 200 miles in after 2 days, hoping for a 6-day finish. And another couple I know are "just riding" i.e. bikepacking it. They started a couple days before the racers and are going in the same direction. The first couple racers just passed them today.

Dole Plantation: never again. Tremendous crowds, huge, the best. Or worst.

Opal Thai: highly recommended for anyone who makes it to Oahu. One of the finest Thai meals I've had, bar none. Cash only, chef's choice for all the dishes.
