The KHE/federal freecoasters with the straight through axel IMO are the only street worthy freecoasters on the market right now.
that being said, you will never, ever, ever have crisp engagement on a freecoaster, its simply impossible if you want to roll back without backpedaling.

An 8.5 eye to eye considerable drops the BB and I would only recomend it if you like very low bikes and are using it for dh racing. 165 crank arms are a good idea, The BB ends up at around 13.4"-13.5"
The new crank brothers headsets look superb, low stack, and are even lighter than chris king. Also a nice touch is the crown race that is integrated into the lower cup so things are a little easier...

Looks freakin' sweet! The simplicity of the whole thing is excellent, and the fact that you used existing standards to make it all work.
i'd say dual dhfs, it can get pretty dusty there, and a tire with a lot of bite that won't fold over is key. The course isn't the fastest in the world, so you could do a 2.5 2.35 combo, however there are a lot of planted rocks, and some people have had pinch flat troubles on lower volume tires...
I can't really see a reason to buy the deity cranks if those weights are correct...

don't spend more than 15$ on a chain, any weight difference with light chains is negligible. KMC in the yellow box is my favorite chain, all of 11$ msrp i believe.
Edit: also, i despise half-link chains. I find they break far more often than traditional chains. Having a bend in you plates...
