I haven't had a super hard time mounting tires up to the Dual Duty's yet, but we'll see. I meant what is the countour of the tread like on a narrower rim like that.
How does the Hutchinson rubber wear compared to the Michelins?
Also, what is the profile on them like mounting to a narrow rim compared to the Michi's too? Think WTB dual duty or Mavic 721.
That was another thing. He wouldn't set it up to run more than 30% sag but just said I could put a lighter spring on that it would not be valved around.
I have to say I'm not pleased with mine at all after it was revalved for my new frame. It felt incredible on my old Stab, but it feels stiff, overdamped, tops out hard, and somehow bottoms out easily on the R9. The DHX felt fairly good on the R9 but I'm going the Roco route next just for...
Incorrect. It begins with a dramatically rising rate from around 7:1 to close to 3:1 at the sag point and levels out (sorta) until it goes back up to around 4-5:1 in the last quarter or third of the stroke. If graphed out if looks like an upwards opening parabola (if the leverage is plotted y...
I am running the older style Hayes rotors without the notches in the outer diameter of the rotor and they work perfectly. I would assume it would be the same with the newer El Camino/Mudcutter/whatever style.
The difference is quite good. They seem to grab a bit better too without losing...
I noticed a big difference going to older Hayes rotors. Someone was telling me the Hayes 8" rotors were a bit stronger and less prone to warping than the Avid 8". I don't know how much truth there is to that though.
A 73mm shell with a 135mm rear end and a 113mm spindle worked just fine on the one I installed yesterday for a single ring setup with an E13 chainguide. I'm not entirely sure of the chainline dimension, but I want to say it was a 50mm.
So I've learned this is somewhat of a problem with the newer R9's running larger tires in the rear (I didn't think a Michi 2.5 was that large but I guess it is about the same size as a Maxxis 2.7), so I got clever and hacked away a spare piece of Al stock as a fin to mount to the tire side of...
I remember hiding from a female security officer who was quite "of size" when I was about 12 or 13 in one of those same restrooms at Wrigley when she was chasing my friend and I for sneaking into the lower deck seats. If anyone has been in the Wrigley restrooms, you know how ungodly disgusting...
Does anyone have a good method for reducing chainsuck on a bike with a normal chainstay (non-elevated)? I'm looking for anything from drivetrain adjustments to a total hack up job, as long as it works and doesn't cause me to fly into boulders as a result of the rear wheel locking up in washy...
