Depends on the feel of the ride you like. I love a slack and low bike, so I'd go for the demo, but that's just me. Depends on how you ride, and how you like your bike to feel.
Look at an Ibis Mojo, carbon. And a Yeti SB66, theres a carbon version coming out soon unless it already did. And those Giant Trace X-0s theres an alloy and a carbon version. Any of those are really sweet rides.
I've always loved the fun part of mountain biking (riding downhill, not pedaling) and so when I discovered downhill, it seemed perfect. Oh seeing some sexy DH bikes in a shop one time, and thinking to myself "I want it."
1) Frame
2) Suspension
But both of these are expensive to replace, the other big factors for me that aren't super spend would be
1) Tires
2) Brakes
3) Cockpit (stem, bars, etc.) as these have a large impact of the fit and feel of the bike.
I absolutely love deity components stuff, just throwing that out there. I'm thinking about trying these pedals out, and I want either a dirty30 or blacklabel handlebar, any input on which is better?
BMX background is gonna help a lot. Everything on BMX happens much faster than it does on a DH bike, stuff will feel really easy once you get used to having a bigger bike that's gonna soak up big hits like no BMX bike could.
I'm not saying I'm choosing colleges solely based on riding in the area. But I really have no clue on where I should even begin to look. Trust me, college is the right choice for me.
