dammit/kind of. On a whim/moment of frustration, I applied to a position deep into the heart of cambridge. Was told by my internal reference that they would pick folks on Monday, which came and went. I made my peace with it as that's a shitty commute. I just got an email today about a phone screen....
Way too early to really panic, but it's going to be hard to turn down a proper pay check doing the kind of work I want to do with people I like...

Here. Went to MILs house yesterday and watching her move around, especially after her fall, she really needs to be in a senior community. She's going to fight it tooth and nail, but I think we're going to have to start that push soon. She's also fighting me on investments again, which pains me. You didn't lose much money in 2022 because of what I did, now let me adjust it out of that timeline. She's a perfect example of somebody trapped in status quo bias, endowment bias, and fear of regret all at once.

Morning Monkeys.

Had our annual HOA meeting the wife said we needed to attend. 18 people showed up, we needed 22 for a quorum, so nothing could get accomplished. But they did get to tell us how important they are and how much they mean to the "community", in case we were unaware.

Has anyone ever met a girl wearing one of these hats who wasn't absolutely insufferable?

View attachment 211877
my neighbour wears one and she is absolutely insufferable. well, more like super annoying to talk to, but close enough. the problem is, my youngest likes hanging out with her boys and they play every day after school till it's dark out...

friggin' garage called. they found I need a new serpentine belt (I think that's like the accessory belt?) and front wheel bearing... in addition to the oil pan, exhaust, and rear brake work, that's going to drive the cost of these repairs over $5000. stupid cars. fingers crossed they get the parts today or tomorrow and we can have our car ahead of this long weekend... they have loaners, but I can't put bikes in or on it... (it's an ooooooold Civic - maybe late 90's model?)

At least it's ride night and my buddy can give me a lift.

How many miles? you may be in a good spot to address your timing belt and water pump

almost 118,000? (I just turned over 188,888 km a few weeks ago)

(and no, I am not very impressed with my average fuel efficiency)
would definitely be something to consider at that mileage while they are in there, parts are minimal but the labor to do just those components is significant if you were to have it done down the road. But if they are already into the belt and pan it might be some savings on labor to have them done now to get you another 100k without issues.

how many times did she blame joe biden for her problems
MSNBC, baby. She's the more reasonable of the group when it comes to reality. But also can't get past being static in life. She still says "when we were married" about Wifey's dad, but they've been divorced for 42yrs.

sorry, at times its hard for me to keep your extended family straight, at least in terms of who is normal and who has the IQ of a sea slug

I give you Egyptian engineering at its redneck-ist

used a chunk of spare winch cable from the Moto along with some soft shackles and some pulley carabiners from the moto recovery kit to make a crude 3-1 system off a ladder nested in the tailgate gap and bed with a friction hitch to lower this 400lb behemoth out of the pickup by me lonesome.

I am sure the neighbors (if watching) were skeptical

big vehicle fire on 70 near you eh @6thElement
Jah.

We were supposed to be heading down to ride shortly and also then down the mountain for dinner plans later. Currently every alternate road is clogged with traffic. Not sure there's even an idea of when I-70 will open east or west.

edit:
The crash happened around 9:40 a.m. on westbound I-70 at mile marker 259.5. The Colorado State Patrol said the tanker overheated and was parked on the right shoulder when the car crashed into it, causing a fire that engulfed both vehicles. It's not clear at this point why the driver crashed.
I'll guess because the driver was an inattentive moron if they can't spot a tanker parked at the side of the road. Hopefully no one else was in the car, not clear who it was that died from the reporting.
