'Morning. Fixing to go run 20 miles, right after pooping. Watched the Shang-Chi movie last night and loved it. I wasn't expecting a martial arts film.

not sure what's on tap today but it better involve bikes at some point.
3rd espresso. Probably making a 4th. Was hoping the weather was kidding when they said it would snow. . .
It's getting later and later. One could almost test the idea that the climate is somehow changing.
I was going to go ski, but nah. I think I'll walk down for huevos rancheros and some fresh air. It'll be more than warm enough for a ride, if not stupid windy again.

120 miles east of St Louis and it's 40° and raining. Last time though here it pulled the same shit and turned into an ice storm.
Morning! Making homemade apple butter to can today; ordered a bunch of Christmas gifts and managed to get my grades & comments done and lesson plans for the next two weeks! It's been a productive rainy weekend.
Accidentally sent one of my blueberry pancakes to the floor. Slid so fast off the griddle there was no way to catch it.

The folks living in these hippy hills put up with a lot to live in /////paradise economics aside...
But goddamn 400 year old redwoods are a thing of wonder...

i wish i had taken a picture of every abandoned house driving up the coast...they had amazing views...
MIL's condo looks like it's gonna get sold. I cannot make the math work to repair and convert to a rental - the break-even is just too far out vs. investing the $300k we can sell it for + $200k repair bill. I've spent the last 2 weeks working with our CPA, crosschecking numbers with my CFP colleagues, etc. I just cannot do it. Maybe if we had done it 2 years ago, but not now.

One of my million dollar ideas that I’ll never make happen is fake shake. Make it look like real weathered shake, but make it out of something that isn’t damn near as flammable as gasoline.
No house will ever look better than a shake shingle sided house amongst the coastal redwoods. However since I like my house to be not on fire, I’ve got stucco and composite siding that looks like ass.

Eh, when you buy the house you can "afford" you have to make compromises.
In his case, after struggling for 20 years to get by in Big Sur, with the related fires, mudslides, road closures, and financial hardship, he found the last "cheap" place...
$700K for an eclectic 2 bed / 2 bath fixer-upper with a lot of deferred maintenance.

Got home from hospital, napped for almost 3 hours, motivation is non-existent. I'm gonna call today a loss.
