Snuck a ride in yesterday afternoon with a couple fast guys, legs are feeling toasty this morning. Ski season continues to suck, though I'm sure if I knew the backcountry zones better I could find some decent turns. Shitty snowpack is shitty though, and I like living more than not living, so maybe fuck that noise. Lots of wind today, probably gonna keep me from riding a bike outside today. We'll see. Coffee nao, gonna try and not get too immersed in PaWN today.

Random question: does anyone have any opinions, thoughts, or recommendations for bottom mount kitchen drawer slides? Old cabinets are old, and the slides are pretty cheap. The drawers kinda 'hang' off them when pulled out, would like something more sturdy that holds the drawer more parallel with the ground. I think the issue might be that there's nothing under the drawers, just the empty space of the cabinet below. No surface to mount a slide on. Wondering if there are bottom mount slides that don't need a surface below them to mount on, but mount to the front and back vertical walls of the cabinet?

Off to Google the Internet to see what I can find...

Them shits look real fancy, but they don't have anything that center mounts from what I can see.
No, but they have bottom mount which is really sleek. I have tried all sorts of slides for the last 20 years and only Blum soft close are worth the money. Ikea uses Blum slides.

Sunny day with few meeting is what I needed today. Tomorrow really looks like a perfect day for mountain biking but I do not have the car home.

What little bit of shitty snow we had is now gone. Its been drizzling since yesterday afternoon. Gah. Exercising outside is pretty much the only way I have to mentally survive this lockdown, but now there's nothing to do outside. This has not been a good start to the year. :(

I have no doubt they are nice. I just don't see anything that will work for my application. All of their slides look like the need either walls or a floor in the drawer cabinet, neither of which I have. I also have very little clearance, so I went with these slides which are low profile, and basically hover in the center with no floor needed.

Also, those Blum undermounts look rad but also looks like more work than I wanna do. Ignore the "building the drawers" part, just the slide installation part has some steps to it. Jigs and pilot holes and all sorts of whatnot.

Hi all

Still struggling with bikenowhere. They have no phone number listed, so yesterday I sent them a third message asking them to cancel my order as 8 business days before shipping post-order was too much. All of a sudden, a label was created and the items were in the warehouse for shipping. If they don't leave the warehouse today, I'm probably going to have to initiate a chargeback through my credit card company or through paypal, which I have literally never had to do, and certainly not with a business.

On a lighter note, CBJ's comments about cancer reminded me of a recent experience/encounter I had- a local friend and fellow dad, not real close but close enough, was diagnosed/disclosed that he has stage 4 metastatic cancer that is likely uncurable. I'm not close enough with him to know what this means, whether it's terminal or something that can be fought, but it was pretty rough to hear and made me realize my own mortality, which is never fun. I offered my help in any way possible, but I think we're far enough removed that we won't likely hear from him.

That sucks.

First day of our lockdown on top of our lockdown.

Not much change in traffic or anything here, as expected.

Too bad you can't venture out this way, the snow has been phenomenal for fat biking and xc skiing this season.

Busy day. Mock recall exercise, planning and ordering for next week, employee reviews. Stripped all the parts off of the '97 VooDoo Wanga that's been sitting in the garage untouched for years last night; thinking about a complete restoration.

Hello all. Working 2-10 PM today. Opted to not squeeze a few hours of skiing in beforehand so as to not be too tired for skiing Friday and Saturday.

i second a full kitchen reno
Full reno unlikely, though we will likely give it a facelift in the next year or two. Cabinets and general layout would remain, paint and tilework, new countertops, new appliances, new hardware for cabinet doors, that sort of thing. The new drawer slides would remain in play.

needs to be a thread w/pictures though...and not just your kitchen as designed in minecraft

8 days too much in times of covid? ok Karen
10 total days from order placed to shipping it for an in-stock item? yeah buddy, that is too long. If it takes USPS as long to get it here as it did for your secret santa order, then that's another story, but it shouldn't take a week and a half to move an item from the shelf to the door.

Good day to you, sirs.

Nothing really going on here. Was perusing helmets last night, as mine is 5 years old and in need of replacement. Recommendations?

did you google them before you placed your order? i just did, they're apparently notorious for this kind of shit.

my point was if its a small operation, they may have backlogs or covid lockdown or something (totally possible because it is in florida apparently).

also, from their website re: cov19:

We have implemented health and safety measures in our distribution center that has resulted in fewer people than usual processing orders at one time. As a result, we are unfortunately experiencing significant shipping delays. Our Customer Service team is also experiencing higher volume than normal, resulting in long Customer Service wait for both email and telephone.

pretty generic, but not uncommon right now.

Hmmm we're going to need a trendy new neighborhood name for a development of this size.

No, i didn't really google them- I didn't think I had to. I saw they listed on amazon and figured that was a good enough pre-filter for shitty vendors. They had their own website and it looked professional and reasonably well run, and I'm not in a hurry for the item, I just want to make sure it's a real thing that exists and will be delivered before I lose the chance to protect myself. I figured I'd bypass amazon with their own website to save us both some money, and here we are. It wasn't until after I placed the order that I saw there's no customer service phone number (and no way to cancel my order without contacting customer service), and they charged my account as soon as I placed the order. The webpage for the item, now deleted, said "ships in 4-5 days". Customer service said (when I first contacted them on day 5 for some kind of update) that the item ships in 4-6 days. On day 7, they ignored my email. On day 8, I asked them to cancel the order, and they said "There must be some confusion, the web page says 4-16 days" and that the order was awaiting pickup.

So yeah, I know you like to poke holes in my complaints, but this is pretty tragic service.

Pictures, dude.

Here. Busy work day. Work phone just dropped 15 voicemails out of left field that look to be a week old. Should make for fun callbacks.

Morning Monkeys.

No more flood warning and all the downed trees have been cleared. Trying to move my one meeting from mid day to this morning so I can enjoy some sunshine.

We have something over 40 doors and drawer faces in our kitchen. I ran the cost of building out simple poplar and 1/4" birch ply shaker doors, mounted to the existing cabinetry, then having them all professionally painted and it's about half the cost of paying someone to do it. It will take me a lot of time, but for almost $10k, I can spend it. If you want to go that route, assuming I'm not actively using my table an compound saw for other projects, you're welcome to borrow them. As for things like tile, flooring, etc, you're free to my tile saw, nail gun and air compressor, and applicable hand tools. Just let me know.

DON'T TYPE THAT TOO LOUD. my wife will hear and is already talking about a countertop replace and cabinet repaint...

Too late. Full kitchen gut with some added spice.
She took down the wall between the kitchen and living room and put a beam in to support the roof last month. Big island going in where the wall was. Kitchen cupboards are being built as we speak. Now I just gotta remove two floors, kitchen and livingroom. Living room floor is in awesome shape, so decided to move it into a bedroom and finally get rid of the nasty carpet. Just waiting on a timeframe for the rest of the construction, as I don't want to live with plywood floors.

This was all supposed to be finished in about a week from now
Due to the lockdowns and other Covid crap, I will be living in a construction zone for a couple more months.
