took a nasty spill on the ebike this weekend. Dark road plus several whiskeys plus pothole plus poorly tightened stem = owies plus broken helmet plus broken brake levers. My bad dogg

Expensive lesson in "check those stem bolts" but Amazon had some mispriced replacement levers and it turns out my helmet was seven years old anyways, so time to move on. Still not loving road rash and chlorine pools.

'Morning. My run last night was going well until the last mile, then it was a mad dash back home and I made it just in time for this:

Not sure what was up with that, but I felt pretty wiped out during my swim this morning.

Every runner I know has this story. I personally have been saved twice by construction site port-a-potty's. Praise the @FSM for east side COS construction boom I guess.

Gotta love those random portapotties. I know many runners that have stories but this is pretty rare for me. I never get those runner shits.

Today is my Monday. My mom is safely back on the old continent after a 10-day visit. My wife flies out for a girls weekend on Thursday night.

Thursday is the first time in months there is a steady row of suns in the weather forecast. I guess I'll be paying dearly for a babysitter this week.

Rode for an hour and a half at the skatepark yesterday. I managed to hit every part of the park, even the bowl (that thing is very small, and not easy to ride a 26' DJ bike in). I even managed to hop into the vert section, from both directions. Today my wrist hurts, but my elbow and shoulder are good. I guess this is progress.

Morning Monkeys.

Today is meh. After yesterday's underwhelming meeting, I have a bad case of FTS. I think I will ask for a pay bump because the level of BS is beyond the fire marshall's recommend levels.

Not that money makes everything better. But it helps dull the pain

wife took kids to school this am, which was cool, as i got to doze on the couch for a bit after i got them out the door.

then there were birds on our porch. then i got locked out. wearing only boxers. so i scrounged in the garage and found a dirty shirt that had gotten thrown in a corner after a ride. had to go to three neighbors before i found one who was home and had a key. got back in. got pecked by the bird trying to get it off the porch. then the dogs ran away and the cat threw up in one of the kid's lego bins.

finally made it to work without further ridiculousness. coffee and office solitude. hoping to turn the day around with lunch beer and a post lunch ride.

Dentist now, gonna get my toofus drilled out to prep for a crown. Yay.

Adding: as I left the house for the dentist, I saw/smelt the crockpot full of pork and butternut squash and onions and garlics and adobo sauce that the girl started for our Taco Tuesday dinner tonight.

Hells yeah.

*EDIT: Butternut squash, not sweet potatoes. Booyah, gramma!

Just got news that my second H1-B contractor ran into "issues" and is returning to his home country and if anything like the last guy, will not be returning here.

so what's the go-to SPD shoes these days? god help me I'm going to try to clip in again (which will quickly be abandoned after slow speed uphill crashes) There are 5.10 Kestral laces and Hellcats on sale. I think the last time I went through this phase I had Hellcats and quickly gave them to stoney.

what kind of riding? personally, i only like 5.10's for gravity stuff. to be fair, i haven't bought any of their products since they were bought by adidas.

I've owned Shimano, 5.10, Mavic, and Sidi shoes, but always come back to Shimano as the best blend of performance and comfort.
