Sears Outlet up off Colfax. Low px ftw.
three or four of my friends in high school worked in a sears store.....it was not uncommon for them to show up for work missing eyebrows from the previous night of drinking...funny when you are a sales person....

My neighbor works at the Sears minimart or whatever the hell it is (private owned store by itself). I've never been in there, he works like 1 day a week it seems. Now that his kid is grown, you would think he would go back to work full time, but I guess he's got it like that.

During my dumbdumber years I worked at a Sears, cleaning the store before it opened. Started at 4am and finished at 10am. Dumbest shift ever.

I think I lasted about 3 weeks before I quit and walked out. Tipping point was when my vacuum cleaner decided to lunch itself and explode in the middle of the women's clothing section. Never again.

Two pretty amazing interviews today. Both very similar in nature of the job and both very much in relation to what I want to do. So today was a really good day.

how many different companies have you interviewed with now?
Not sure but a lot have just been more informal meetings where no job has been posted. Today was second and third meeting. Both the jobs today has also been me contacting them and creating my own job. I have only been to a few where there was an actual job description.

If the hills are green, why are you on a stationary bike (presumably indoors)? seems like the right time to be outside.

not raining here, but it is cold. froze my fingers on the ride in. when, oh when, will spring get here? this is getting ridiculous.
Your Spring will arrive when my Summer starts. That should be in about 2 weeks.

Frustrating morning at the salt mines. I finally am now sitting at my desk for the first time today. Looking forward to my ride home this evening.

I am supposed to play in a charity golf tournament tomorrow, but it looks like Rain is going to ruin that. Do I: A - play golf in the rain, B - Skip work and golf and surprise the wife with a finished bathroom project, or C - go to work anyway and make back the money i spent on the golf tourney?

D - reevaluate your life decisions which include playing golf in the first place.

We Dentists have to do something besides buy blingy bikes with the money we make off of you non-flossers.

Actually, it is a charity thing that I do every couple of years and the only time I golf. So really, it is more like a day of drinking with friends, while somebody besides me provides the skillful golf playing.

Why the hate?

Sorry, I'm Canadian ..sorry...
Happy Wednesday...

Good news, the kid made it to a half day of school yesterday. Today, he's back to meltdowns....

Try again tomorrow I guess...

Picked up a new saddle, turns out mine was too narrow causing limp dick issues because of nerves getting crushed.. Got myself a cool Specialized with moar wide and no middle bit, so farting is easier....

It's way better now.

In hell. Welcome!
1st social ride of the year in the books. I failed to keep up with fast XC guys on fire roads and bailed. :dead:
Oh well. I am not quite sure why an anti-social animal like me attends social events in the first place.

WTF, @boostindoubles
So? How are these apples?
Ha... didn't see that today. Cosmic Crisp is basically the only bright spot for Apple growers looking to plant something that's going to pay. They hope. They are putting lots of acres in the ground in the next couple years which should yield upwards of 5 million boxes, immediately. The article mentions this. It also mentions that this has never been done before. Who's going to market this apple? It's a public variety so who's going to pay for the marketing? Also, I dont think the rootstock research has been completed, which could be disastrous for growers who select the wrong rootstock.

But yeah, it is a good tasting apple and they say it has excellent storage characteristics. Other new apples to look out for are Envy and Autumn Glory. They are both better than average apples. I think that Autumn Glory tastes like gummy bears. Honestly the apple industry is at a strange crossroads and we are about to see a lot of consolidation and out of business signs for smaller growers who aren't on the cutting edge.

I eat a lot of apples. I seldom know what kind of apples I am eating. Bananas and Mineola Oranges also. I love pistachios along with apple slices. I usually use plain yogurt as the delivery agent. Baked oats, honey, and pepitas work as well...

Also I am now in socialist country and I am coming to take all your freedom and money.
Wait a second... there are corporate jobs that are "ride my bike and take naps every day"???!?

Fuckin' Denmark - most kick-assiest country on the planet? Discuss...
There are a lot of hot girls too if you into that. Skiing is not good though.

Where might one find all of these new and fun varieties of apples? Seems like the grocery stores around me only carry the same old traditional selection.

Honestly I have a hard time finding that Autumn Glory around here... its owned bt Kershaw and they only grew about 600k boxes this last year. The are working on building it, I can ask one of my friends over there if they have any distribution on the front range. Cosmic Crisp is coming down the pipeline so in a season or two or three it'll be out. I'm assuming (hoping) it will be widely available when it does show up. Envy USA is sold out for the 2016 crop so if you see those it'll likely be from the NZ fresh crop.

As good as a 4130?
Funny you mention that, because besides this Cosmic apple, the pink strains are the only other apples growers are hopefullybfor strong returns on thr next 5 years. The original Pink Lady apple picks super late and doesn't color well. It's been around for over a decade now. There are new strains of Pink Lady that harvest earlier and have better color. That change in harvest window could mean changes in its storage performance and crunchyness. Most other established varieties are meeting or exceeding demand. To make room for the new apples the industry has started culling older, marketing dominating apples like the Red Delicious, Golden, and more recently the Gala. Especially the old strains of Gala.

Comparing 4130 to CC, I'd say that the 4130 is a firmer apple with less zing. The CC has more flavor and a better crunch. This is out of storage. The pink strains are still tasty and hard but the hardness is not the same as crunchy. Some apples are easy to sink your teeth into but still crunch great, other apples are hard to sink into but don't crunch either.

What do you think about them 4130's?
