I'm looking to put a new set of cranks on my bike, upgrading from my 2001 Raceface evolve XC with the square taper (they were unused when I got them 2 years ago). I'm looking at the Truvativ Stylo GXP, Shimano XT, LX, or Hone, or the Race Face Deus.
I want somthing with external bearings because I think they're cool.
My question is, which set has proven the best value? I've read a lot of poor reviews about the Race Faces, and the Stylo's are very inexpensive compared to the others. Currently I'm leaning towards them, but am I going to buy a product that will last only a short while?

get the stylo carbons. ive been riding them on my slalom bike for a while now and they're crazy stiff. external bearings last a lot longer too. better for long xc miles.

I have the XTs and have no problems, but in all honesty I'd rather have the Deus on the sole reason of looks. The probelms with the RF cranks has been improper of installation of the BB, otherwise they're fine.

I might have to check out the Stylos, however...
