From my experience VA has a much steeper progression rate than PAR. I keep my fork pretty supple (3-5 clicks compression and 45psi in ATA, 90 in PAR) and using full travel is fairly easy...bottoming out on the flat landings really easy.

I have found that after a run or two you can usually dial in the PAR pressure to provide awesome small bump compliance while controlling the last 10% of your progression instead of the last 25%. My only complaint is the dive. Pretty hard dive when I brake hard but I don't think any DH fork can decide when I'm braking.

Maybe when I throw in the Avalanche cartridge with a bottom out cone I will take the PAR out.
