Yes really. The only road bike i have is for winter training basically. It's old as eff. I finally figured out that its way too small for me, and rather uncomfortable. To compensate for it being too small, I have my seatpost jacked up, but because its a 1" threaded steerer its got a quill stem (which is already maxed out in terms of height), I'm super hunched over. As a result I can't really ride it for more than an hour.
1" quill stems are semi hard to find, so one thing I'm considering is something like this ( http://www.cambriabike.com/Soma-Stem-Riser.asp ) and new handlerbars (mine are way narrow). Has anyone used this kind of adapter before?
I'd really only be using this as a stop gap solution until I can set aside the money for a new road bike. Not gonna happen anytime soon, I'm closing on a house at the beginning of april.
