Yesterday it was time for the second long ride of the year. Compared to the 145 mile ride I did in June which was more or less flat this had some real elevation change. We ended up being the first riders out but after the first rest stop we took a wrong turn which including one extra mistake ended up extending the ride with 7 miles. We met other riders who had made mistakes to so we didn't feel that stupid as there was several spots with not so good marking. I started the ride with one of the guys who I rode the previous ride with. He is slower than me and at 65 miles it was time to say goodbye. Also because he kept blaming me for the mistakes because I was going fast. So I ended up riding all 107 miles either in the front or by myself with no drafting opportunities and I did the whole ride including the rest stops in 6 hours and 55 minutes. This was the route
I could really feel that I do not ride enough elevation and climbing was clearly my weak point during the ride. I just didn't have the strength to really push up the climbs. My feet did much better this time but I can't wait to get my new bibs as my Performance bibs added unnecessary soreness to the ride. I really want to have a GPS so I can just concentrate on riding. All in all it was a really good ride.
