Both are going to be super nice, I am a boxxer fan, but you can't lose with a 40.
I'd say go with whatever is easier/cheaper to get, or what your buddies have in case you have a mechanical at races and need to share parts and knowledge.
Only thing the 888's had over the 40 was that you could abuse 888's forever and not have to worry about the seals or much servicing, the 40's need the oil in the lowers changed every now and then
