I am fairly new to the east bay (Fremont) and am looking for any 24 or 26 park riders to ride with. I know there is a big dirt jump scene out in Santa Cruz, but was wondering if there was anyone local interested in riding.
I used to go to a lot of parks at random times on weekends (Antioch, Concord, WC, Pleasanton, Dublin, Moraga), and I never saw other mtb riders there. Antioch has nice flow, given it's rounded shape. I hear Martinez if bike friendly.
Pleasanton (dirt) Bike Park (Stanley and Valley/Bernal) is 24/7, not too aggressive but can build / shape your own if you would like...
Other skatepark options include Pleasanton (off Stoneridge) never a hassle to bikes, Martinez, and the new Morgan Hill Skate park are all fun. Alameda skatepark is a blast.
Thanks for the replies. I am still getting back into dirt jumping (took a hiatus to ride DH for a couple years) so it sounds like pleasanton is a good place to check out.
I rode the pleasonton park on my BMX and it was pretty fun. I will have to give it a go on the 24.
After the post I thought screw it - haven't been to Pleasanton in a couple months (DH and trail riding mostly) - hit it up around 3 pm yesterday and it was amazing. The dirt was fantastic, people have been grooming and building new lines. Its still no Aptos PO - but it is way fun. Careful of the wind over next couple days.
I was the one that was heading out as you were arriving. I would've stuck around and chatted, but wanted to beat traffic. Maybe next time...
Earlier in the day around 2pm, 2 dudes w/ 50s showed up. I perched up on the start hill and gave them the evil eye the entire time as they unloaded. One said, "sup brah", and I didn't even acknowledge him. Forunately, they got the message and hit the dirt trail going to Shadow Cliffs. However, on the return, one decided to ride around, so I did my best to get in his way, snake his lines, and send a message that he wasn't welcome. 2 laps on the little stuff and he was gone. My dog even sent a message an barked her lil' head off as they were unloading.
It was 20's and 24's most of the day. I shoulda brought my shovel to fix the landing zone of the jumps near the drainage.

New right side is a nice add...took a couple tries to get over the third - unfamiliar on a spare bike set up XCish with sticky knobs didn't help - that and being old (me - not the bike ;o)
The second and third jumps are trick friendly - but the first required (me) to more race jump. Not complaining - beats the big pull required to hit the (old) middle line. Can't wait to try some transfer options.
Yeah - had the place all to myself for an hour and half - weird - but beats dodging little kids.
Guys on 50s and/or with RC cars/trucks a bane - I see the latter really early on weekends (typical time I ride there)
I do my little ritual of warmup left to right - I totally didn't check by the drain and was (unpleasantly) surprised - but it was rideable.
Hey G - is Cunningham allowing full on MTB at bike sesh? Was told 24" full rigid and no hydraulic disc allowed. Tweaked my PStreet to comply - unfortunately didn't enjoy the full rigid experience like I did 30 years ago. That was a little over a year ago. Place was awesome.
ive been riding my 26 djer (front susp fork single speed and disc brakes)
I've seen other HTs with gears
other rules seem arbitrary and capricious, no duallies?
I seem bmxers there all the time with pegs (prolly the most damaging) even tho pegs a no-no
I know they relaxed the big bike rules a while back, but who knows what the official rules are and it also depends on whos working
My suggestion is to just rollup and pay the five bux and dont ask, dont tell
If ya (have and ) wanna bring 2 bikes just to be sure... maybe a skateboard too
great to know... usually check out any new place with short travel FS first (saves me wrists and ankles ;o) - but front suspension really min requirment - cheers!
technically too dark for me also (just trying to "adjust" my schedule today ;o)
sunset = 4:55pm ; civil twilight = 5:23pm ; hoping to get an hour of jumping in...
